Bud's Pitmaster BBQ at Avenida Houston - 1001 Avenida de Las Americas -  is opening in February.

From Facebook:
Whether it’s a brisket sandwich or brisket by the pound, we’re redefining smoked meats with our modernized pits built by one of the nation’s leading pitmasters, Myron Mixon. Opening February 2017!

If that timeline holds, it means that they will miss the festivities of at least some part of (or all of) the week prior to the Super Bowl.  Seems like a major screw up somewhere ....

^^^ BUD'S is opening in february 2017 as stated above.  SUPERBOWL LI is slated for february 5, 2017.  we don't know just why they waited so very late in the game per se.  however, they should be ok if they just put a move on......

Don't forget that the festivities start 10 days before the game so even if they open on the first they're missing out a little..

To bring another real-world observation to the discussion, I just watched a new restaurant go from shell space to ready-to-open in just over 2 months.  3 1/2-4 months should be relatively easy.  (And this one did not require anything close to 24-7/7 days a week work.)

Yea, but in my experience, I'd imagine you would want at least month before this major event to get a good amount of the kinks out... learn what works and what doesn't work. The new staff might be overwhelmed if the Superbowl is the first thing they try to cater to.

^^^ for the second day in a row now, JOE O'CONNELL along with representatives of his company CREATIVE MACHINES, have started to install key components (translucent polycarbonate wings) of his new GRB water fountain art creation WINGS OVER WATER.  ^^^ above, is an artist rendition of just what this magnificent new art creation should look like once completed.  should everything go as planned, this new brilliant art piece should become an astounding GRB AVENIDA HOUSTON success story......

Dirt is being moved on the lot across from this (Chenevert/Clay/Hamilton/Bell).  Anyone have the scoop on what it is?

There is a thread about this within the downtown section of the forum. Seems like a surface parking lot.

I was recording the Bun B concert, but if you click and drag the video you can see George R Brown with both LED towers now working.

Is that what was going on Saturday night? It certainly made for an interesting contrast to all of the holiday festivities.. heh.
