Places generally along the South Freeway (I-45), and south of the Ship Channel, including Clear Lake, Deer Park, Freindswood, the Hobby Area, League City, Pasadena, Santa Fe, South Houston, and Texas City.
As long as they don't take the Japanese BBQ Gyu-Kaku or BBW spots I'm good. Now that I have both doses of the covid vaccine, Gyu-Kaku is one of the first places I used to frequent that I want to go back to.
Right, I want to say it was maybe private, and nothing special. All I recall were huge hedges and maybe a sculpture.
Phonecia alone was worth losing that park, having DG nearby would have made it a poor option anyway.
Given the full operation of Olshan on all of the lots it occupies and no tidbits of planning for the property, I wouldn't expect anything substantial to appear within the next few years at least.
Additionally, looking into Cathexis further, they are truly a holdings company. All local news regarding Cathexis only mentions them selling the land to Real Estate developers (East River land to Midway, some Greenway parcels, etc.)
Last edit: The only real estate transactions listing BFG as the seller, or at all, are from August of 2020 when they sold a parcel of land in the Block 58/59 Swiney Addition to KBRN.
Note: I am pretty sure most of the land in the East End is SM Williams. Any idea where Swiney Addition is?
They have constructed a plywood enclosure around the front doors, looks like work is underway.
Narrow bit of sidewalk right there right now, it brings you uncomfortably close to the stoned homeless man trying to wreck the stanchions between the street lane and the light rail track. Seems the dollar store crowd has moved down 3-4 blocks.
