Places generally along the South Freeway (I-45), and south of the Ship Channel, including Clear Lake, Deer Park, Freindswood, the Hobby Area, League City, Pasadena, Santa Fe, South Houston, and Texas City.
I've actually heard that reason it is called Clear Lake was because it once was more Clear Water. The Lake was surrounded by water grass and marsh that filtered the water and helped it look more clear but then us humans removed that grass and marsh and the water coming to Clear Lake was unobstructed and then it became brown as out in the bay.
That stadium at Rice is the old stadium that's now the Track and Field stadium. You can see the fairly unique straight 220 track going back under the trees at the top left of the facility.
I'm really wishing I had taken a bunch of pictures in the mid-70's over there.
