shasta
Frost Town - has a nice ring to it. Thanks Houston 19514 Frost Town was located in East Downtown (near Minute Maid). I'm not sure how large Frost Town was before Houston annexed it though.
Montrose1100
I meant the project in general. I believe the original plans IIRC were from 2003.
H-Town Man
I like the poster who said it looks like little a little wrench when comparing to the Hines 41 behind it in some renderings, a pithy tool box analogy eludes me.They're eventually going to build a medium height wrench in the middle and the whole ensemble will look like someone's Father's Day gift set.

DrLan34
Crescent selected Balfour Beatty as GC for 6 Houston Center (above, how it'll look from 59). The 30-story, 600k SF Class-AA office building will break ground this summer. JLL's Chrissy Wilson is handling pre-leasing. http://www.bisnow.com/commercial-real-estate/houston/1803-the-deal-sheet/

H-Town Man
If something isn't done between now and August, we might be stuck with this building for decades.
UtterlyUrban
If something isn't done between now and August, we might be stuck with this building for decades.I laughed when I read this. Funny! But, you are likely making a point here too. I see this as "very similar" to a near neighbor but, are you seeing something more? Triton
Wow, does this mean the trees are toast? Based on every construction project we've seen in downtown, it's unfortunate but probably so.
Montrose1100
Based on every construction project we've seen in downtown, it's unfortunate but probably so.If you look at the rendering it looks like the trees are still intact.
BigFootsSocks
If you look at the rendering it looks like the trees are still intact. That doesn't prove anything. Renderings are supposed to be pretty
Montrose1100
That doesn't prove anything. Renderings are supposed to be prettyTrue... but based on the rendering facing south (the same angle as Triton's picture), there seems to be some distance in between the building and the street. Triton
Even with the rendering, I imagine they'll tear down the trees and put in their own. From Marriott Marquis to Skyhouse, they've torn them down even with trees in the renderings.

jerNspace
I actually like this building. Its a nice addition. I also like when buildings in an area have something similar about them, such as the "monkey wrench". Its distinctive, which may seem counterintuitive. lockmat
As much as I like the fact this is near the east side and it is development, I'd rather it die again and come back in five years with a different design.
democide
I hear you, but it's already been redesigned and it's been on hold for many years. Let's be done with it and build it already.
