samagon
The HCC building would be much more attractive with a lighter glass. That black & white color pattern clashes with the current and proposed structures around it. since the HCC building was there first, don't the newer buildings clash with it? Maybe they should have considered it in their designs

Triton
Wow what a remarkable first photo. Definitely following this photgrapher. I mean, that image just says so much... from abandoned to restored, from new to old, from dirt to concrete. 1
j_cuevas713
It's crazy how the only two things that stick out like sore thumbs in that first pic are the old Holiday Inn and the needed redevelopment of the 800 Bell site. Other than that, things are looking very nice. Edited November 4, 2015 by j_cuevas713

Popular Post Howard Huge
So much construction on Main street.Too bad that stupid train runs down Main, and is closing down all the businesses and preventing anything from being built on Main street.
j_cuevas713
Seriously? You like 2016 Main better than 800 Bell?Yeah actually I do... 800 Bell isn't nice from a distance but up close it's nicer. Either way the redevelopment is needed for that building.
HoustonIsHome
Leave my 800 Bell tower alone darn it. A city with all shimmering glass boxes is boring. Nothing spectacular about the shape of 800 bell, it's height no longer make it a titan of Texas, but the classic look of the building still makes me think of Houston. Exxon, Boa, Esperson, Heritage and Gulf should not be F'ed with. Days Inn, yes! Blow that sucker up. Apart from a washing here and there, or some paint, don't touch my 800 Bell We do need a gap filler where that crane is peaking out on the right
Texasota
Yeah, 800 Bell is a classy building. I like the proposed changes at the ground and tunnel levels, but whats proposed for the building itself will just rob it of its character and create another boring glass box.

bobruss
Did I miss something or did Camden change their minds and go with the whole project. I thought the last official word that I read on this site from Camden was that they were going to put a hold on the residential part of the project and just build out the garage and park for Superbowl and wait for some recovery before actually building the development. I thought this was going to be like Skanska Capital project downtown. Just get the garage built and sit on it.
Moore713
You missed something because I don't ever recall Them saying they were putting this on hold.

phillip_white
I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that these are good to go unless you have a source that says otherwise. The only thing that I can see that they're pouring at the moment is the garage. For all we know, they could just cover it all with dirt and wait two years to proceed.. j_cuevas713
Last thing I heard was Campo was a go for this project. That's why he put the downtown project on hold until this one was complete and the economy got better.
DrLan34
This is from a March 2015 article. https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/multifamily/montrose-still-has-a-huge-pipeline-45952 Camden McGowen Station Developer: Camden Units: 315 Move-ins: January 2017 Camden boldly started its Midtown community amid falling oil prices at the end of 2014. Since little else started around that time, CEO Ric Campo says there will be a gap in deliveries in 2017, and this property will be there to fill it.
