Man this forum never ceases to amaze me how quick someone is able to notice and then post about a change.

We aim to please.

DG may get some flyover footage time during the broadcasts. It's a really visually appealing urban park. Amazing transformation.

Monarch, For a city that has nothing going for it😜, like Dallas and Austin, we sure seem to get our share of World Series, NFL Super Bowls, Mens college Final Fours, World cup games, and now College football playoff championships. I guess we need to work a little harder and then we might get a few more opportunities.

Oh, and did I see where they are planning a St. Regis residence tower off Memorial Drive on the Welling property.

^^^ @bobruss sir, i guess that at this all-important point, I SEEM TO BE A BIT PERPLEXED.  however, may you PLEASE do me the honor of presenting me with a quote of ME stating that our fair city of houston "has nothing going for it like dallas and austin"?  trust me, i'm waiting.  well, that's exactly what i thought... NOTHING.  anyone who TRULY knows me, is UBER aware that i have ALWAYS been a PROUD houstonian ever since i moved here back in the early eighties... right out of high school and into college.  if you only knew of the countless moments of me ESPOUSING/BRAGGING about houston when i was living and working abroad... you would be stunned.  I HAD TO BE ONE OF OUR CITY'S BIGGEST CHEERLEADERS.  nonetheless, many people that i have harbored the pleasure and honor of meeting overseas had never heard of houston, tx., but you had best believe that they somehow knew about "austin and dallas, tx".

somehow, i think that you may be getting the narrative on my views of our city's sudden lack of progressiveness a bit twisted.

since you have taken the liberty of eloquently mentioning "dallas" beforehand, i have just spent this past christmas holiday in the city of dallas.  subsequently, i journeyed up to DURANT, OK, and visited the CHOCTAW NATION CASINO and RESORT illustrated above.  my time up there was... SIMPLY AMAZING.  the hotel/resort stay was... OFF THE CHARTS MAGNIFICENT.

please trust me, my cool pal, i am a very frequent world traveler.  therefore, whenever i speak of our fair city's lack of MAGNIFICENT hospitality venues for the size of our city, it's because I FULLY THINK THAT WE DESERVE the very same respect that both dallas and austin acquire from the overall hospitality industry.  i do not care what anyone states regarding my views, or just how anyone cares to spin my views, HOUSTON DESERVES TO HAVE MUCH BETTER...

Considering all the world class, roofed stadiums Houston has, it makes sense that Houston gets a lot sports events; Houston has the venues for it.

Following the filing of an architectural barriers project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), a plan review fee permit was recently filed for OTG Coffee. It is a coffee shop/ coffee bar. This will be located at 1550 Lamar St, Suite 110 in On the Green.

It's possible @TacoDog may be correct in regards to the coffee shop's name. In the TDLR filing, an entity of Skanska is the listed owner. So, instead of On the Grind, Common Bond On-the-Go, maybe the name is On the Green Coffee.

I suppose we'll find out whenever Skanska distributes a press release.

Plans for the buildout of a coffee bar at 1550 Lamar St, Ste 110 are approved. The plans were approved for permitting last week.

Most of the sidewalks are now open (they are still working on the main entrance area)

I wish they extended the landscaping underneath the Oaks. Small cutouts like this really hinder the trees growth. There should be guidelines in every city for them to be larger.

Love the final product of the building.

I agree. It would also give a more finished look. The heat from the concrete may also stress the roots in the summer.

The fall color of the little trees are beautiful though. Anyone know what type of trees they are?

Houston will never get an Olympics because Houston will never build a heavy rail transit system.

That's fine with me. The Olympics are very disruptive to the host city.
