Montrose1100
Maybe they could get them to extend that all the way to the ground and wrap around the side.I'll take florals over a pattern any day. Chevrons make me angry now.So basically it's just for a year until after the super bowl? I hope they continue to have art there, would be nice to finally have space for that in our space city. Murals are great and all, but no sustenance.

So hopefully they will consider making this a staple for the city even after the Super Bowl.
rechlin
Sorry for the potato-quality photo, but they've already started beautifying this corner. A month or so ago they put this mural up diagonally across the street, on the old Battlestein's build (next door to the JW Marriott):

A month or so ago they put this mural up diagonally across the street, on the old Battlestein's build (next door to the JW Marriott): That'll look great for my wedding photos. Any chance this will *all be completed before September? Edited January 14, 2016 by Montrose1100

Or is this specifically for Main street square? http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2015/11/10/downtown-houstonorganizations-roll-out-plans-for.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bizj_houston+%28Houston+Business+Journal%29 A look at the materials being used for 900 & 1100 block of Main St Sq. I like it - continuity with the fountain plaza. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/688851461854351360

adr
The new planter boxes are now in place on the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Main. Might be more going south, but I can't confirm at the moment. They appear to be made of rusted steel.

monarch
the painting on the sidewalk by corner bakery is already peeling off^^^ well if this is indeed the case... then talk about poor planning, and an incredible waste of money, during a time of serious penny pinching throughout the city... Nole23
if its already peeling then it will look like a failed paintball fight at that corner by the time the Super Bowl rolls around....

UtterlyUrban
I think that the "art" that they are paintin on the sidewalks and buildings looks like crap and the paint hasn't even dried. In 6 months it will look worse.
dml423
I agree with most people. This art work just looks whack. The money could have been spent for better artwork.
