  1. At Neartown meeting the COO at Menil, talked about the Masterplan the Museum has made for the next 25 years. There were drawings of the present campus and what changes could be expected,-- most noticeable the continuation Main street-- lastly an artist rendering of what the campus would look like as viewed from Richmond Ave.

  6. The new apartment tower will not get any glare from the Museum Tower it is situated south of the tower in fact it will benefit by getting shade from MT in the summer and in the winter from Trammell Crow Tower:)

  9. Sorry for kind of a non update. More of a report of hope. This is the one project I do research on despite a lack of news. Here is some information from linkedin pages of people who have worked on the project. I dont know what they are waiting on but I dont think they went through all this trouble to not move forward...eventually. https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=14311399&authType=OUT_OF_NETWORK&authToken=VaOB&locale=en_US&srchid=1707097241424922875344&srchindex=4&srchtotal=42&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A1707097241424922875344%2CVSRPtargetId%3A14311399%2CVSRPcmpt%3AprimarySomeone is about to see their profile views shootup for no apparent reason. https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=224873082&authType=name&authToken=4qs3&locale=en_US&srchid=1707097241424922900990&srchindex=20&srchtotal=42&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A1707097241424922900990%2CVSRPtargetId%3A224873082%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary We now know this is considered the "amenities building" per https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=48979573&authType=name&authToken=yZOC&locale=en_US&srchid=1707097241424922900990&srchindex=14&srchtotal=42&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A1707097241424922900990%2CVSRPtargetId%3A48979573%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary The Morris Principal has this listed as his project from 2013 to current https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=46534525&authType=OUT_OF_NETWORK&authToken=NbEQ&locale=en_US&srchid=1707097241424923926721&srchindex=2&srchtotal=133&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A1707097241424923926721%2CVSRPtargetId%3A46534525%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary

  10. For me, this is a fantastic project. Not only will I have a backyard view of the construction, but it will add to the wonderful collection of museums, chapels and galleries surrounding my house. Its already an art lovers paradise and I can't wait for the drawing institute to open.

  11. It makes perfect sense, it's an apartment tower, not a condo tower.

  13. Too late. They know the drill already. I tried buying a tiny old, beat up 750 sq ft by Fulton from an old Mexican lady. The house was appraised ~$55,000, she was not fielding any offers lower than $170,000. They know what they have.

  14. Greenspoint. I'd play the long game. How long can an area really stay down?

  16. Right, there isn't anything really on the west side of 45 between the new affordable apartments at the 45/59/288 interchange and the GRB.. Just weave it around it if need be?

  17. Yes! 2 month construction period!

  18. Not sure how you come to that assumption at the end. They could simply push 59 and I-45 further once it makes its way past George R Brown.

  21. That's good height for the area. I also like how the tower base is titled against the street grid.

  26. Those garages need to be bulldozed and replaced with taller garages and more buildings. They were built when land was way, way cheaper. The owners would basically get free land by densifying it.

  27. The sign on the current building really bugs me, looks like something on a strip mall. I only point that out so hopefully we don't get a repeat I thought this was perhaps infringing on the area noted in the renderings for 7200 Main (I'm holding onto that unlikely dream) but I don't think it does Either way, within a few blocks you've got this (states construction starting in May), Texas Children's new 25 story tower, the 17 story hotel/apartment tower (hopefully, at least sign is still up) @ 6750 Main St, and the new DeBakey High all potentially going up around the same time OT, but are there any plans to rework Main St through the Med Center? I suppose it is functional, but you've now got reasonably decent concrete intersections with patchwork-quilt type asphalt in most areas. Also, OT (but same area), I have not been impressed at all with the ReBuild Houston efforts on Holcombe (particularly West-bound) at all to this point. They've already cut back out squares in freshly paved areas

  28. I just ran across an interesting tidbit in the minutes of the Houston First Corporation Theater and Convention District Operations Committee: They are working on a new Master Plan for Miller Theatre. "The plan includes an underground parking garage."

  29. I always found the letters to be distracting! Not to mention I felt that the design wasn't fully committed to either fully inside the buildings or bringing the buildings relationship closer to the street. This design looks like a full commitment to pay respect to the street and creating some nice public spaces yet they are at a human scale. This would be very nice if this gets built!

  32. This is going to be great with residential near by as well this can either be good for greenstreet or it might be bad depending on the type of retail they add to this area overall i think this will be good for this area period and i just mention it might be good for greenstreet since it is within walking distance it might be bad because most might consider going to this area instead of greenstreet depending on what it is added to the convention center.

  36. We are talking about a picture of the skyline of downtown proper, where do you get sprawl from??I mean exactly what I said, and what other posters have clarified for you, I would rather see the downtown skyline grow sideways instead of just a few tall buildings added to the interior of our downtown boundaries. Anyway, I dont know why Im even typing this, you're just trolling.

  37. I'm pretty sure he just makes up things re: IAH and posts them here. A few months ago he claimed that he flew out of the new terminal B section even though it didn't open for another month. Right now all that's happening is the south part of the terminal. Hopefully the north side gets going soon but there hasn't been any evidence that that's going to happen.
