Where are these people going to eat besides the hotel restaurant nearby? Will they have a hike to get stuff that is decent for lunch and dinner? I probably would Uber to the Galleria area if from out of town I guess.

Depends what they are in the mood for - list below, I'm sure I'm missing some. I would just go to Market Square park and walk around:

Bovine and Barley

Honeymoon Cafe

Prohibition

Main Kitchen

Vic and Anthony's

Fusion Taco

Batanga

Azuma Sushi

Bluefish Sushi

Artista

La Fisheria

MKT Bar

The Grove

Bombay Pizza

Bombay Grill

Perbacco

Springbok

Irma's

Line & Lariat

Hubcap Grill

Pappa's Steakhouse

Quattro

Moonshiners

Hearsay

Niko Niko's

Edit to Add the Below:

Frank's Pizza

Roma's Pizza

Morton's

Massa's

McCormick and Schmick's

Greek Myth Cafe

I can't believe I forgot Jackson St BBQ - I ate there for lunch. The new Finger Apartments at the Ballpark are going to have an upscale Italian restaurant and upscale late-night diner that should be interesting.

people go to flying saucer for the food?

Unfortunately they don't have them at this location, but the burgers at other Flying Saucer locations are really excellent. By far the best thing on the menu. The other stuff isn't bad either. But obviously the beer is the best part.

To the list above you can add:

Irma's (2 locations)

Guadalajara

Three forks

Mia Bella (Green Street)

What's the name of the Tapas restaraunt next to Mia Bella?

House of Blues

Pappasitos

Tejas

Masa's (Lamar)

Virtually every restaurant listed from the original list above and the edited lists is less than 10 blocks. Walk or take a fixed price $6 cab pride.

I spoke to Jeff, the owner of Barnabys the other day at his Binz location and I asked him about Market Square location.

He said his business is doing well during lunch and some dinner but it is not really there yet to support the restaurant

being open at night yet. He said he does stay open later than is profitable on some early nights.

I told him it wouldn't be long before he would have to be open later with all of the Market Square projects coming together.

He is optimistic and looking forward to expanding his hours.

They could have fit exactly the same size Texas lazy river in that space with correct north - south orientation.  Instead, they've got the Panhandle in the west (according to our municipal fiction that Main Street through downtown runs north and south).

The architect clearly wasn't very compulsive.

Edit:  nor was anyone involved in green lighting the design.  Sigh.

^^^ this hotel is incorporating many different exterior glass designs throughout.  i cannot help but wonder upon whether or not the park has something to do with this.  i would love to know the architects thoughts on why they chose this particular design concept?  props hindesky....
