richfish
Looks like they're going to use the crane itself to lower him down. Crazy.
Golyadkin
Looks like they are going to raise up the gurney with the crane and lower the guy down to the ground on it. I've never heard of any construction site ever doing that before.

arche_757
We don't know if his spine was injured, or if they are just taking the precaution of immobilizing his spine/neck so he doesn't injure it. Wonder what happened?
Howard Huge
His name is Vernon Bell, tower crane operator. He fell backwards through the turntable and landed on his head and neck. He was responsive, but told the first responders that he couldn't feel his lower extremities.

Montrose1100
It's interesting to see how wide Astoria is from this angle. The Renderings only have shown the side facing Post Oak Blvd. Patiently awaiting the final product.
wxman
If these older, low-rise apartments in the picture were living, I'm sure they'd see these new highrises as langoliers inching closer to them...eating all the old developments and being replaced with giants. These low-rise, low density buildings days are numbered if they're close to post oak. In 20 years, this'll look like midtown manhatten----but not really.
houstontexasjack
I can just see the Astoria peeking out above the apartments to the northwest of my office.
richfish
Astoria is almost as tall as a crane now. Should be adding some segments in the next few days

cloud713
This stretch of 610 is incredible.. I wish someone could take a panorama from the middle of the freeway of both east and west sides because there's so much development going on in this area and 4 of the towers are starting to make an impact.
