Popular Post innerloop
They started on the retaining walls over the tunnel ends. This was the far east end of the eastbound lane. They were pouring concrete on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. 19
Popular Post innerloop
They opened the jogging trail reroute. This new section runs about 100 m north of the old trail that is directly adjacent to Memorial Drive. The old trail is going to need to be extensively modified or eliminated because it must be in the way of the downslope of the bridge. The new section is nice. It runs though the woods instead of right next to the street with the sounds of the cars, the exhaust and the general unnerving feeling of being that close to the fast moving cars on Memorial. Unfortunately it doesn't totally eliminate all of that section. There is still a part right by the road where it will be difficult to move the trail because of a gulley and where the golf course comes pretty far south. But it is way better than it used to be. 15

Skyboxdweller
There are several in Banff National Park in Canada as well. And Olmstead and Vaux did something similar with the Central Park cross town roads and in the weaving of pedestrian , horse and vehicle trails elsewhere. Funny how that works. Congratulations, Tulsa! Even if Houston did “take it from Tulsa,” so to speak, it would be the latest on a relatively long list, and I, for one, would rather be Houston.

Probably going to be some neat press photos of the runners going through as well. 3

KinkaidAlum
I walked almost daily at Memorial Park over the Holidays. I was a bit worried that it would be over programmed but man, did they knock it out of the park! Everything is looking so nice. Next step, tunnel Interstate Ten! 4
samagon
this is exciting stuff, any idea when they'll open the bridge to public? I presume they've still got to move a lot of dirt, and then landscape.

I think someone else already gave the answer though. yes, it will be cool to drive through the park and not have to divert for the construction, but it will be cooler when I can park and walk over the land bridge.
