Anyone go?

I did and I brought a crew of 13 with me... We got 2 lanes, for one hour, which came out to $140 total (including shoes for everyone)... so about $11 each.

There was probaly about 40 people there, and it dwindled down as we got to 2 am. The atmosphere and lounges were great, music was excellent, drinks not too expensive... It is really a very cool place. I am definitely going back.

Had a date last night.... after dinner I wanted to do something different so I took him to Lucky Strike Lanes... the wait was about 1 hour for a lane so we decided to pass though I will DEFINITELY be going back b/c the place looked great! As we walked out we noticed Pete's Piano Bar so we decided to go in... it wasn't that crowded (Wednesday night... 830pm) but we ended up having a blast! That place was so much fun!! The guys on the pianos really knew what they were doing and we laughed, we sang, we just had a blast!!

I can't wait to go back to Pete's and to take my friends and am looking forward to going to Lucky Strike Lanes!!

On a side note, House of Blues seemed packed.... huge crowd. The only downside to Houston Pavilions was the lack of everything else... lots of vacant places needing to be filled, but I guess that will happen w/ time. With what they have now I can't imagine this place not doing well in the end.

I don't understand the attraction with this place, a way overpriced beer plus hole in the wall atmosphere. yay!

Tuesday is coinflip night, a 50% chance of free beer!

Anyway, not really sure. I don't know if the owner has industry connections or what, because a lot of local bands end up hanging out there, and lately its been Kings of Leon, Plain White Tees, and Muse.

The setup is pretty cool there, unfortunately the management is a freaking joke.

I'll go ahead and post my story that I wrote for another site. Feel free to give it a shot, but I sure hope you have a better experience!

Let me preface this by saying I was extremely excited about the opening of this place downtown. I enjoy the occasional trip the bowling alley but have never been a big fan of the Palace Lanes in Bellaire.

So, we decided to go try out Lucky Strikes last night for Monday Night Football and some bowling. They have big screens everywhere so it seemed like a good fit. It ended up being my girlfriend, me and two other couples.

From the moment we got there, there were problems. The brand new ball return system kept getting clogged and the scoring system was messing up as well. For some reason, every time there was a scoring issue, they require you to go to the front desk and have it corrected. After an hour of trying to make it through a single game, they moved us to another lane.

Knowing this place was new, we were all very patient with the people. The fact that the football game was on made it easier to tolerate.

This brings us to the next issue of slow service by the waitress. The girl serving us was either really slow or completely stoned because she took an eternity to bring drinks and would often screw them up when they came. This would normally be understandable, but the place was nearly empty and we were her only group. Again, we chalked this up to the staff being new and ran with it. Her last time around she managed to spill the entire tray of drinks on the ground. My girlfriend and her sister helped her pick up the drinks and she ran off.

Next thing we know, the bar manager comes out to discuss our tab. We figured she heard about the slow service and shoddy lanes and wanted to apologize.

Not exactly. Instead she told us she had closed our tab and wanted us to leave immediately. All six of us are in shock and someone asks why she closed us out in the middle of our second game. She tells us that our waitress is in the back crying because we "verbally assaulted" her. After asking what exactly we said to her that was so offensive, she say's that several times in the night, various people in our group told the waitress: "hey beatch, next time your bring my drink over, put it in my GD hand!" and other equally rude things. This was a surprise to us and everyone around us, but the drink manager said it was her word against ours and she has to protect "her staff's feelings".

Dumbfounded, I try to appeal to the lane manager who had been helping us the whole time and was out there. He says that he can't get involved because he wasn't able to hear all of our conversations. He does finally admit that we were all very polite with him and that he would be shocked if this had happened.

No matter, they want us out. The general manager finally comes over and apologizes for the bar manager but says its "out of his hands". He does tell everyone that next time we come back, the first round is on him! THANKS BUDDY! icon8.gif

Anyway, long story short. This place is the worst managed establishment I have ever encountered and I will be shocked if they're still open in three months. There were just so many ways in which they handled that situation poorly. If they really were worried that we were being rude, they could have assigned us another waitress and gotten her opinion. Instead, the immediately became rude and confrontational.

It's too bad because it's a nice setup and has a lot of potential.

I wonder why the waitress said that. Maybe a sob story to paper over the fact that she wasted a tray of drinks.

I (obviously) wondered the same thing myself. It was just a strange situation all around. She didn't even show her face after the manger came over.

I would have liked to ask her who exactly said what because we were nothing but nice to this lady the whole night.

I read your critique and was a little nervous about going Friday during the lunch time. At first, the service was pretty bad. The waiter wasn't very attentive and would only stop by our seats about every 15 minutes. They seem to have had plenty of staff but they need to better organize who works at the lanes and who works around the bar. After a 45-minute wait for some lanes (During Lunch!...luckily we have half-days on Friday) - we were lucky to be placed in the "Luxe" area as the main lanes were full. Once over there, our new waitress was pretty decent...even brought us complimentary root beer floats as we had to change lanes due to ours needing maintenance (It didn't seem like a big deal but hey, why complain?). The remainder of our afternoon was a lot of fun, and I definitely have to recommend the Alley Cat Cosmo to anyone that goes.
