I really hope Andre Johnson is healthy or we will be short a major weapon and will not go far. He is having an MRI on his knee today.

He is doubtful next week. He has a minor knee sprain. No swelling, and at most, will be out four weeks (but not likely). AJ is a warrior, and will be back real soon.

I agree Faggins needs some work, but he's still adequate, I think...I hope. But Steve Smith is just unbelievable. If it came down to it, it'd be hard to pick between him and Andre...hypothetically of course. The guy is just awesome and so explosive.

Plus, I don't know why Dunta wasn't covering him every play. Anyone know what the logic behind that might have been?

I think one of the reasons that Faggins is covering receivers that DRob should be covering is that the Texans D likes to assign their corners not on player vs. player but player on field side.

That's what I was thinking. I'm gonna email 610 and see what they say.

That's what I said. They have their positions, but the Carolina offense exploited the weakness and the Texans adjusted. I can't recall which particular plays Faggins got burned by Smith ( I think it was ALL of them), but Kubiak eventually saw it before it was too late.

One, he's one of the best WR's in the game, so I expect him to burn the best of NFL cb's. Not that it's an excuse. But, the quick out and up route he scored on was pretty well defended. He got a hand on the ball, but Smith just made a great play by hitting it up and catching it again.

All I'm saying is Dunta should have been on him the whole time, that is all I'm saying. It is simply my belief that Kubiak was giving Faggins a chance to shine, and he just isn't the caliber to hang with the Steve Smiths and Andre Johnsons of the NFL. I doubt Faggins will start against Harrington come next week. What say you ?

The play you are talking about where Smith tipped that ball up, IMO, was not defended all that well. Faggins was clearly out of position to make any REAL play on the ball. He was facing Smith when he should have been turned around looking for the ball, instead, he tried to crane his neck at the last moment and falls down, while Smith tips it up and stays with it. It was a good play, but a lucky play on Smith's part.

I just asked the radio guys to ask coach Kubiak on his show, and they more or less did. He basically gave Carolina credit for moving Smith around a lot. He said he doesn't like to get too hung up on "the matchup."

Until that "matchup" causes you to go 14 points in the hole. ;)

I don't think McClan made the diagnosis. He's just relaying the information.

And I should have mentioned that I don't believe football had nothing to do with his current conditions. It does. I remember seeing clips a couple years ago of Jerome Bettis walking on a Monday morning. It was not pretty.

At the same time, I wouldn't totally neglect the consideration of his condition.

But did they really talk about it on that HBO special too? Did Costas have anything interesting to say in response, or did he just swallow it?

No Bob Costas wasn't buying it either. They interviewed an orthopedic specialist and he wasn't buying it either. Earl says that's what the NFL doctors told him was wrong. But an independent orthopedist told him it was repetitive blunt force trauma to the spine. Earl just kinda shrugged it off, like he did a thousand tacklers. It was truly sad. He gave his long term life comfort for "Luv Ya Blue". George W Bush when he was the Gov down here made Earl an "Official State Hero", and a life-size bronze statue stands right along side the other six in the Hall of State, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, Mirabeau B. Lamar, James Walker Fannin, Jr., Thomas J. Rusk, and William B. Travis. One hell of an honor.

It was really only one. The other one, Faggins deflected the pass straight up in the air and Smith ran under it and caught the rebound.

Don't forget that Faggins made up for it by causing the fumble on the kickoff return that the Texans recovered for a touchdown.

Absolutely, and I like Faggins, I am glad he is on our team. I'll take him over 3/4 of the rest of the NFL in that position.

So you think McClain just buys into that in support of Earl, b/c he respects and likes him so much?

The Texans are looking good from my prospective with the kickoff to touch down repeat, I think the Texans are going to be a team to be feared if this keeps up even if we lost to the Colts today.

Great game.

Not bad considering we shot ourselves in the foot a couple times, got almost no pressure on peyton, and had four of our main offensive weapons out for either the entire game or most of it.

I like Schaub's poise and our depth at WR, too. I think the WRs are doing a good job getting open. I have faith that as long as they continue that, Schaub will get them the ball, regardless of who it is. Plus, they're doing catching the ball and not dropping it.

One dissapointment I had was our O-line. Our RB's have to fight for every yard they get and the pass protection was less than adequate today.

Real good game against the SuperBowl champs, despite a couple of miscues. No.44 for Indy just ate our lunch yesterday, as he does against most teams. Faggins actually played pretty good "D" against Harrison yesterday also. The fact that the Texans never gave up, and the unity they showed when theirfellow player was down shows me that they are truly a TEAM. I anticipate them being in the playoffs this year. The Texans ARE capable of beating ANY team out there right now.

BTW, Killings is moving his arms and legs now, his teammates are saying he has almost ALL his strength back. GOOD NEWS !

With all the injuries the Texans have on their roster, it's going to be a hard time for them to overcome the Falcons this Sunday. Now they saying Mathis probably won't play either, cause of his leg. Who's Big Bad Schaub go-to-guy now? Andre Davis? Kevin Walter? David Anderson? Owen Daniels? Jeb Putizer? Looks shaking to me.

Do Texans still have runningbacks? Ahman Green is out! Samkon Gado? Ron Dayne? He's playing with bruise ribs.

The defense better play like their in the Super Bowl already, if not, 2-2 they will go!

Next week, AJ is back and a week after that, Jacoby will be back. Ahman Green may play tomorrow. Owen Daniels is a good TE and Andre Davis stepped up big time agaisnt the Colts (70 yards on just four receptions). I think we will be fine.

After today, I don't think we will be anything other than mediocre. Atlanta was 0-3. We gave them zillions of yards in penalties. Houston played with no pride or winning attitude. It's the same old thing with the Texans. Why is it the Texans get hurt by everyone on the team but other teams go for months without that problem? I am totally discouraged and don't think we will pull out of an "expansion team" mode. I hope the Texans prove me wrong. I have season tickets that beg for loving and I, too, beg to be loved by the non-Texans world, but this kind of play doesn't win respect from anybody in the NFL.

They played much of their comeback against the Colts w/o those guys. I think they can still handle the falcons.

My theory is, the WR's will get open most the time and Schaub is good enough to find them, just like he did last Sunday.

They are having to go DEEP into the Roster, but I feel confident that the Texans can handle the Falcons this week. Mario and the boys will have to put some pressure on the QB this week.
Win against Atlanta and we are 3-1. Then we get well and become really, really good. I love the Texans and think we are capable of a winning season, finally.

Oops!

Guess the Falcons were more than just a one dimensional offense. This was the week of upsets, five of the top ten lost yesterday, and was very nearly seven of the top ten. The bookies took a beating worse than the St. Louis Rams did.

I was a little upset w/ the very conservative game plan they unvelied at the beginning of the game. I understand that Kubiak wanted to establish a running game, but it seemed like the first couple of drives, he was being a little too hard-headed. We're not the Titans.

Overall, we didn't play too bad in my opinion. I think turnovers was key. We had two, but what maginfied the problem was us not forcing any.

And I agree w/ the announcer, we should have kicked a FG quickly once we got in FG range. We stupidly had way too many running plays in the red zone on that drive, when clearly Dayne was not getting the job done, w/ the exception of that great run on the spectacular blocking.

Position wise, although Schaub has not been sacked much, our O-line still needs to be addressed w/ another upgrade or two. They are the ones who make great RB's, or are at least a huge reason for their successes.

Our WR's could not have played any better. Like I thought, they got open and Schaub found them. Andre Davis stepped up huge as well and was tremendous, while the other wideouts were more than servicable. I don't think we had one dropped pass, did we?

I think if we play them next week, we win. I'll give them credit though, and I still have faith that we're a pretty good team. This is the NFL, and as the commentators kept repeating, it's tough to win in the NFL. At full strength in week 5, we'll be rollin.

Wow! And you're a season ticket holder? Talk about turning on a dime, are you a Longhorn fan also? The Texans had a bad game. It's not a surprise, they have 4-5 starters on offense that couldn't play due to injury. It's hard to win on the road in the first place, much less without the guys you depend on. Yes, it's disappointing b/c we all thought they would win, but the season isn't over, it's only the 4th game. Don't give up yet, I can assure you the players haven't.

You're right ProHouston. The Texans had a bad day. I should have waited until this morning to comment; at least I would have been more objective. But, needless to say, I think most Texans' fans were disappointed with this very winnable game. But since I purchased two PSL's before the stadium was even finished and my name is engraved in the Glass Wall next to Reliant, I think I can vent a little. Having read the Chron this morning and seeing the stats (alcohol free today :P ), the Texans really moved the ball and should have had this one.

OK, Miami and home cookin' may be the medicine we need. And a few injured players getting well.

My college team is L S U !!!!!!! (who nearly gave me a heart attack in the 1st half Sat.)

The Texans stunk up the joint Sunday. A couple of bad calls from the officials didn't help either. Faggins is still getting beat. From now on I will refer to Faggins as "Toast", because he is forever getting burned.

I really thought my guys were gonna pull it out, when Sanders and Milloy got into it. Spectacular catch by Davis for the TD. He is shaping up into just as good a weapon as Johnson. Texans failed to capitalize in the Red Zone, and to shank a field goal at the end of the game ? WTF ? Poor or Lack of Leadership in the Red Zone is what killed us.

Well, I'll be at the game this coming Sunday against Miami, to get a firsthand look at our guys, who knows, maybe I'll bring my pads and helmet, just in case ?
