Luminare
Awesome little project. Buildings aren't anything spectacular, but I dig the warehouse type look. More of these types of developments are needed! Its certainly balanced. It addresses the need to improve both foot traffic and the every prevalent car question, but in a more sophisticated way than most. I do like how the garage will be an art feature in a sense and will have retail it looks like down below.

Popular Post Mab
 Quote Houston developer and restaurateur Fred Sharifi has hired real estate brokers specializing in office and retail to help land tenants to fill aproposed mixed-use development he announced late last year for east Montrose. The project will be called Fairview District and plans include developing a five-story parking garage and several other buildings to house office, restaurant and shop space along Fairview near Taft. Construction is expected to begin in January, according to a press release from CBRE, the firm hired to lease the office component.  "Office tenants today are looking for an experience. They want to be inspired in their work space and also have direct access to progressive retail and dining concepts," CBRE's Rima Soroka said in the statement. "The lines between work and leisure are blurred. By creating a destination where work meets play, the Fairview District is the beginning of a special movement that blends flexibility with choice and provides Houston consumers with the urban experiences that they crave." Josh Jacobs and Lacee Jacobs of Edge Realty will lease the retail space. Sharifi's company, SFT Investment, won a 2012 Good Brick Award for its preservation of a historic commercial building at 214 Fairview that houses restaurants Cuchara and Max's Wine & Dive. The new project is slated for land SFT owns across the street and on an adjacent block. Sharifi's vision is for the neighborhood to become a more active and walkable area during the day. Now, most of the activity is at night. The Gensler architecture firm designed the project with an industrial aesthetic to include glass, brick and steel materials. Sharifi also owns the Hungry's restaurants in Rice Village and on Memorial Drive and numerous commercial properties inside the 610 Loop.  3  http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/Montrose-Fairview-District-mixed-use-development-9971323.php#photo-11445563 Edited October 14, 2016 by Mab

As crappy as it is, it's the best option out there at the moment.

thatguysly
Don't Midtown my Montrose! Â I hope that area keeps all the things that make it great the antique shops, bike shop, etc. I'd hate to see it just become more "trendy chains" Steel City Pops and Shake Shack.

I am more just hoping the things that make Montrose unique don't slip away. I like how there is Midtown, the Heights, Montrose, etc that each have their own flavor.

Chi-Char-Hou-Dal
Funny insight terra002 - Â Not sure which blue shop you refer to but...Cotton Brothers a block down from Boheme is the only frame shop certified to deal with frame damage wrecks in Houston. Â Mack, International, Freightliner and Peterbilt, KW all sublet their frame jobs there. Parking is tight there is usually a 20+ truck backlog to get into their shops. I am sure they know they are sitting on a gold mine. Not very fun getting a wrecker down Fairview with a mangled 18 wheeler.
