Houston’s much-maligned climate is a key advantage over other Texas cities and we should continue to exploit it.
LosFeliz
You've never seen Greek Row in T-Town. Good God, they take that stuff way more seriously. Excited for more trees at UH. It looks so much better than it did back in my day but there's work left to be done! 3

hindesky
"The University of Houston System’s endowment has crossed over the $1 billion mark, placing it among the country’s wealthiest institutions. The University of Houston System remains far behind those leaders, but reaching $1 billion at least puts it in a coveted group – just 20% of colleges and universities nationwide have endowments valued above that threshold, the business association reported last year. Those 132 institutions make up 84% of the combined value of all endowments." https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/education/article/uh-endowment-among-elites-crossing-1-billion-mark-18411431.php

Landing that $1.3 Billion, from Prop. 5, will be another huge step in transforming The University of Houston from a Regional Public School, with little outside interest, to a Nationally renowned Public Institution with students all over the country wanting to attend here. Memorial Herman did a naming rights deal 30 days ago. I don't know the value or the length of the deal. Currently at 105k sqft and will add 14 suites 450 seat club, and 300 seat roof terrace lounge. Information for Innovation Hub in the video is the exact same that @hindesky posted above. Same as @hindesky posted above. Inside of the food hall looks pretty nice from what we've seen. There's going to be a new medical research popping up around campus soon. This is possible due to funding from the 87th legislature. On another note the medical school is in its 4th year and will be graduating its first class in May 2024. There's also more images for the Sugar Land Building but alas this is not the appropriate thread for that. Exciting times ahead! The facility, soon to be known as the Memorial Hermann Football Operations Center, will feature up-to-date amenities and instantly help Houston's recruiting efforts, with the competition for talent across the country at an all-time high, the university said. University president Renu Khator was among the attendees at the event, telling student-athletes she hopes the facility will help them succeed. "This building really is not for any other purpose - the most important thing is really you," she said. "We are doing this for you." The university became an official member of the Big 12 Conference on July 1. The planned $130 million facility will also have amenities, including sports performance centers, an academic support services suite, a leading-edge locker room facility, student-athlete flex space, and office space to house football coaching and support staff."
hindesky
Surprise find of the day. A huge crawler crane has started work on the Memorial Hermann Football Operations Center. Austin Commercial is the contractor building it. They have built two other projects at UH that I'm aware of the new Quad dorms and the new Law building.
