  1. This is about the Mixed use project, "The Allen", not the Federal Reserve building. /s I'm eager to see how it turns out. It's different for sure.
  2. I'll come but @monarch has to show... the myth, the legend.
  3. Assume they're moving everything from the 1301 McKinney/ex-Chevron/Fulbright Tower?
  4. I really hope there is some future restaurant option coming in, but it seems unlikely, given the current climate. Also, long term, closing/cutting off the McKinney RR crossing would limit customers. The neighborhood is doing well given the slump in oil and overall economy. That lot next to Baytown Seafood is being cleared and will surely sprout the newest townhouse farm at any time. A realtor opening up in a renovated warehouse is cool and very appropriate.
  5. You don't owe Market Square Tower anything. It's the Harris County Criminal Courthouse of Residential Buildings. It's like the very threshold, to the finest degree, of architecture in this city. Partly joking, partly being a big you know what. Brava (the tower portion only), is looking great.
  6. It's cute and I hope it gets built. Looks like the parking is covered by glass, so as long as that's not exposed, we have a solid & interesting structure on the Park. The Embassy Suites deserves to be covered up.
  7. The Hotel/Rosewood portion is included in "Residential"?
  8. It should be the 8th tallest behind 1100 Louisiana, and pushing CenterPoint Energy to #9. A real stand out structure close to the Williams Tower and the west side in general.
  9. 800 Bell being saved would be worth another decade of seeing through the Old Days Inn / Holiday Inn.
  10. Yeah, I think you're right, thankfully. That's likely Three Post Oak Central to the right and not the BBVA/PNC.
  11. A Loews would be a big win for Houston. We have a big lack of brand diversity in Hotels. Sure We have every Marriott and Hyatt brand but nothing exciting out of that besides St. Regis, Omni, and our local Boutiques. The Design is really a bore, oh well. I'm confused though. Are the Flags/Entrance on Guilfort Ct? What would the Post Oak side look like if this is the "front"?
  12. "if". No matter how cheap it'll look, as long as they keep the same amount of windows, I promise not to complain.
  13. The Lighting is cool around the rim of the "crown". Hopefully it circle the whole building and not just the 3/4ths that is lit now.
  14. It's a roll of the dice to reply to any topics or utilize the moderator actions. Happy 2020 I suppose :P
  15. Play nicely. We're all allowed to offer our opinions, on the structure, or whether or not we can spend other people's money.
  16. Meh, I wouldn't count the Wortham and Convention Center, they were built with the same fortress mentality. Bayou Music Center has more of human scale/retail components (1997). The inner west loop started gentrifying in the late 1990s and the initial investments for all the things you saw in the early 2000s were from the late 1990s. What was the weird little E-Village rendering we saw floating around, semi hardy yards, semi founders district. Anyway, you might be right with the heavy investments and turn around in the early 2000s, (Hell, even the Galleria Area finally started exploding). However, the Red Line, MMP, Discovery Green (or at least the revitalization of the area in front of the GRB including a Hotel), 1500 Louisiana Street, Toyota Center, were all sparked in the the late 1990s.
  17. The Like button doesn't always load the options (thanks, confused, like, laughing, etc). Half the time it will just click and reload the page and provide a like to the post.
  18. Wow Strickn, Thank you for this! Check out Eagle Plaza in Midland! They WISH! Also, I don't think I've ever seen such a clear rendering of the Campeau Tower. She's interesting for sure.
  19. I'd like for you all to note that it was the 1990s that really sparked what we're seeing today. Mayor Lee Brown, despite the negative things I've heard of him when I was younger, really envisioned what is still happening today. Don't forget all those shiny new towers Downtown are all connected to an highly desirable, air conditioned, underground network of tunnels to avoid the streets. Or they have above ground skywalks. Very, very, few interact with the street. We're only seeing a toe being dipped in the pool with stuff like the Houston Center reno, Allen Center, 600 Travis, Bank of America, and the Texas Tower. We've got a long way to go. We're making a good move in the right direction and progress takes time. Just like the Buffalo Bayou Master Plan.
  20. I'd like to see a non-political, legit source that the bond reform is to blame (even partially). The Blaze link is a joke. How many pop-ups can one website have? If it does, then it needs to change. If it doesn't, and it's just HPD Politics, then the narrative needs to end. Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the reform for nonviolent misdemeanor cases? To free up the courts and jails for the violent ones? All I've seen is propaganda on FB on this one. Legit news sources cite differently. Has every city across the country simultaneously reformed theirs as well? Or can we blame the rise in violent crime on the pandemic and economic depression?
  21. This thing is really filling in some gaps from afar. I attribute the rebirth of NoDo (JK), Northern Downtown to the Bayou and street improvements. Also, look what Discovery Green has spurred. Southern Downtown is patiently awaiting the Pierce Elevated to be torn down and will be the next focus area of development. Hopefully. While the base is a slap in the face, the tower portion is a gentle peck.
