  1. Hey, I've lived in Houston forever, and I may visit it too. Also, when I have out of town guests or clients we could have lunch on DG, then walk over there and give them ideas of what to visit. Nau is extremely bright, talented and has the $$$ to make it work. They may have to tweak it as they see how it's used, but I will absolutely check it out. I know Houston very well, but the center may get me out of my urban comfort zone and give me day trip ideas for my kiddos.
  2. I agree. Has to be downtown's third tallest. But even that surprises me. I will have to look at the heights of the others. There must be a big drop from Wells Fargo to this, I guess.
  3. Be careful what you wish for. A surprise from RD is likely, but not usually in a good way.
  4. I can hardly get over all the new residential highrises. I'm so happy for our great city.
  5. Austin is growing up. http://m.bizjournals.com/austin/blog/real-estate/2014/11/2-more-large-downtown-austin-office-projects-move.html
  6. And triple the cost. I wonder how much they (we) spent on that skin
  7. I love those. I have suggested that to the Uptown district for years. What a difference that would make if you could safely cross the street!
  8. I agree. Obama should've spent some time here. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy - we can't win Texas so why bother trying. Without trying - we don't win Texas. Tiresome. I also think the Mayor/sermon controversy energized the Repubs further at the worst possible time. Maybe, just maybe, Abbott won't embarrass us like Perry did.
  9. I will confirm it with y'all around 8-9PM tonight. Until then, I prefer you to speculate.
  10. That's great news. I was sitting at that traffic light yesterday, and can't believe how much it has changed this year. That will be a high profile location. I hope they do a handsome design. Too bad txDot has screwed up the bus transit lane etc. The area really needs it.
  11. Moving so fast, yet 7-8 yrs later we still have the ghost of the big, bad, Ashby Highrise!
  12. Right. I agree with you. They left because the operator didn't keep it up to Ritz standards, not for lack of a market for the brand. It would do well here. Right now, a lot of my clients stay at the ZaZa, which is nice., but no restuarants etc in walking distance. It forces them into a car or cab and changes their experience.
  13. It's one big commercial - but Hines does it right. Everytime. http://609mainattexas.com/mobile/index.html
  14. Should be a nice quiet corner. Easy in and out. Let's buy it!
  15. I would say you did a perfect job. It's great that he has a vision and even competes it. We (IMHO) would rather the details emphasize quality rather than quantity. And he never quite "finishes" them. That's my main gripe. Go by any of them. All the first ones are detailed on one or two sides and then look worse than our downtown jail on the other sides. (Forgetting that they can be seen from all 4 sides). And the Cosmopolitan needs a spire or something as it looks "lopped" off at the top. Still, they do provide infill and they do always find buyers. So who are we to judge?
  16. $500k in NYC is about the same as $200k here. Our affordability is one of the best in the nation. I've had friends move to NYC because their pay is being doubled. Then the call me and say they are struggling to make it in a tiny apt etc.
  17. Ive been told it's black and white and unlike anything Randall has done in the past. (That's a relief)
  18. I heard from a realtor friend that Randall has secured a site near Discovery Green for a 20+- story condo tower. Supposedly it is "sexy". We shall see. Anyone heard anything?
