  1. In NYC and Chicago it seems every building under construction is 70+ stories. We need 85+ IMHO. Just saying.
  2. Nate99 -In the spirit of going head to head with the Hilton, they should put a Lupe Tortilla in this one. Now that's the best idea I've heard all day!
  3. Unfortunately I haven't heard of any plans to remove the cheesy red "smokestacks".
  4. It seems very narrow to me. It will be interesting to see once the hotel Alessandra is in.
  5. It's virtually torn down this AM, and a big pile of rubble.
  6. It's official. They are building a new headquarters: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/03/27/amegy-bank-buys-galleria-area-land-to-build-new.html?ana=e_hstn_bn
  7. Well, only the Motel 6 for me. They leave the light on.
  8. I saw it in my Kindle version of the Chron. How do a post a photo? It is very nice looking. I am wondering about the parking situation though.
  9. Have you all noticed that Fingers properties have metal studs. What a difference that might have made. I think he also has concrete floors. I am going to go look at The Suzanne tomorrow and see. I guess this will slow down the possible apartment "glut" by about a small percentage.
  10. Wow. That is a great shot! Thank you for sharing it.
  11. Hines buys out his neighbor that complained about his "cracks" in his patio and the noise etc. of construction. Courtesy of Swamplot: http://swamplot.com/with-help-from-hines-family-living-next-door-to-highrise-construction-site-exits-to-pearland/2014-03-24/
  12. What about the antique pavilion on Westheimer and Revere. It used to be a grocery store 20+ years ago and now has some tacky "antique " stores and a small Berry Hill.
  13. They put a good bit of the crane base in on Friday, and driving a block or so down is the Levy Park buildings crane. That part of Richmond will look so different by this time next year.
  14. Thank you for the clarification. I didn't recognize the Catholic Church steeple in the other photo.
  15. I searched for a thread in this but didn't see one. The realtor has for years put up all these signs saying it's back. To me, this is certainly a place for apts and GFR. Why, in this market is the shopping center dead except for Amy's Ice Cream and Freebirds? I would post a photo of it but don't know how yet.
  16. That is such great news. One thing about Hines, they don't mess around!
  17. Urbannizer - I concur! A good ruling... http://m.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/02/28/judge-denies-request-for-temporary-restraining.html
  18. That would be great. That building has been an eyesore for 50 years.
  19. It will be interesting to see if Lovett does commercial or a huge patio home project here. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2014/02/finger-furniture-parcel-of-gulf-freeway-bought-by-houston-developer/?cmpid=businessmhcat
  20. Like I said earlier (but was mocked about "and cars will fly" which was funny) these one story strip centers and box stores are obsolete. The land values are dictating more dense use of the land.
