phillip_white
Obviously the next logical step with the 360 cam would be to add it to my drone. You can see a lot more than just 609 Main in the video, but I had to pick just one thread... click and drag (or move your phone) to look around in the video.

Ideally, ambitiously, one could wish for the sidewalk to extend as far as the orange barriers. A narrow sidewalk where pedestrians huddle away from a five-lane road is not the best solution longterm. Austin is "pretty" and fun, and Dallas is "flashy", but Houston is on another level, imo. 609 Main is a "grown folks" tower, built for the nation's most diverse city, a Texas city that transcends stereotypes and trends. In comparison, Houston is a "serious" city--serious about industry, healthcare, philanthropy and the arts. A truly diverse city--as relevant to America's third coast as NY is to the east and LA is to the west. Our congested, messy, always under construction, international, thriving, blue collar but rich, soon-to-be-Super Bowl-host (again) city is amazing in so many ways. I have been guilty of comparing Houston to Dallas and more recently Austin as it "grows up", but I won't do that anymore. Texas is big enough for all, and Houston, I believe is Texas' truly "world-class" city. Edited January 3, 2017 by quietstorm

Let's hope the national media - news, sports, Hollywood, retail, "get's it" soon and realizes what they've all been missing for decades by discounting Houston so much in the past. Cheers to HOUSTON !!! I agree with you, but think the "serious players" in our city have known this all along, and pay little attention to Austin and Dallas, honestly. Despite our boom and bust cycles, our industries are simply in another league (i.e., Energy, Medical, Space, Shipping). Houston is a national and international industrial/financial powerhouse. I believe Austin and Dallas residents understand this, whether they would admit it or not. I will be the first to admit to having a 'Houston inferiority complex' because we don't have rolling hills, "America's Team", or as strong an "image" as Austin or Dallas. But, really that's ok. There's a reason more people call Houston home than any other city in the state. Before we can expect others to "get it", I think we have to embrace and recognize Houston for the powerhouse it is, with its warts, but also the many, many other things that make this city amazing.
