mollusk
Surely it's not really the case, but from that angle it sure looks like a bunch of cars just got fenced in.

citykid09
For some reason I thought this was cancelled. Wasn't a downtown hotel recently cancelled? Anyway, good to see a big parking lot gone from downtown and from the inner city. When will we hear about all of those high end hotels they said we would see announced in Houston this year? Has work started on the Green Street Hotel? I thought they were supposed to start in July???

ZKB9
So only half of the block will get developed then?

Montrose1100
There were two separate projects on the same block. The other one was cancelled next door. The renderings showed one big base (garage), with two separate hotels on top of said base.
Urbannizer
The renderings showed one big base (garage), with two separate hotels on top of said base.Yes, the Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites will take half the block. A Hyatt Place was planned for the other half but was later cancelled.http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/28289-hyatt-place-downtown/

Grizzly46
Is there some listing for it? How do you know it is on the market (and do you know the asking price?)

bobruss
Is this an early rendering because I thought one these had dropped out.
LarryDierker
Is this an early rendering because I thought one these had dropped out. Hyatt Place dropped out. It would have been in place of the greyed out building on the same block.it's still on the devmap http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/28289-hyatt-place-downtown/ Edited September 18, 2014 by LarryDierker
bobruss
So do you think the developers are shopping this concept to another hotel chain?
Triton
So do you think the developers are shopping this concept to another hotel chain? No, they are not going to market a lot that could potentially compete against their upcoming hotel. Just doesn't make sense. It is simply a rendering that is trying to give a more urban vibe.
lockmat
So they don't own the land where the grey building is? If not, I'm sure that side of the hotel will be without windows, anticipating someone will build there eventually, and everyone will blow a gasket like they did for Embassy Suites at dg.

Really. That lot could sit there for 20 years and this hotel will have a big, tall, blank wall facing it.Oh well.
