Funny, I think Tilman is trying to follow in Donald's footsteps.  He's got his own show on cable now and he' owns casino's. Only difference is their not called Fertitta towers. I think Tilman likes the lime light like Donald does. Tillman just doesnt heap as much praise on himself.

If that is the case then then I count 31 floors plus the crown.

The base of the tower has 4 floors.  I'm guessing your are counting it as only 2.   The stacking plan shown in the site linked above shows a total of 34 stories, and it also shows that what has been referred to here as the "crown" is actually the 34th level, served by an elevator.  I think the heliport will be on the the 34th level.  Note that this is identified on the stacking plan as Level 35.  That is because there is no Level 13, as is customary in hotels.

I counted 4 at the base. If they are working on the crown now, then they cut the two floors that are shown in the rendering below the crown off. From what I can tell that is the only difference. The rendering never had as many floors as the articles claimed the tower would have.

If I remember correctly, the original plan was 34, then two more floors were added right before construction started.

Plus, so far, he is a regular guy and not a vile orange cheeto of a man !

The biggest difference is Tilman can be self-deprecating.

I was at the opening of the newly renovated tennis facility at UH. Tilman joked with the woman it is named after by saying something to the effect of "i don't normally do photos next to other people's names but I'll make an exception for you."

It was really cute and he totally poked fun at himself for being an attention seeker. The Donald would never. He would have attacked that old lady on twitter.

The crown is only being built on the east side. It looks odd from the north & south.

It really does look odd from the North. Noticed that on Friday. Was hoping it would encompass the entire top, but looks like that's not happening. Although a much nicer building, it kind of reminds me of Memorial Herman's offset crown in Memorial City. Just strikes me as a strange thing to do.

They started building out a steel frame yesterday to expand the crown to encompass the entire floor. This morning it looks like they were boxing it in with the pre-cast.

From the construction came, it also looks like they are also about to pour a new parking lot next to the Bently / Rolls dealer.

I was going to report that.

At the current state it looks like the power plant at 249 & 8. Glad it's going to fill out. YYuge crown.

did anyone watch Billion Dollar Buyer this past week? The whole episode focused on the new ground level Patisserie being installed in The Post Oak. (2 companies were bidding on the concept...from name to design) While the new ribbon chandelier sounds cool, I actually liked the design that lost out better than the winning design...but understand that while the losing design seemed to say "french bakery" more, the winning design definitely fit the "late night/high end" vibe Tillman was going for as well.

Anyway...it was fun to see our city and this development the focus of an entire episode!

haha...yeah sort of!...every week Tillman takes a look at 2 small businesses who offer some kind of service/product he may use within any or all of his businesses...at the end of each episode he flies the company to his Houston office and they throw the final pitch and he decides if he will use their product or not. Throughout the episode/process he helps them along the way with advice/ideas/opinions etc...many times you will see that those he does decide to work with have their life changed by having the business double, triple and more all because of Tillman buying/using their product/service. Its pretty educational and entertaining to watch in my opinion...

My friends of the houston based company Bravado Spice were on the first episode ever and he decided to use their product in his restaurants and it definitely helped their business...and their company grow!
