According to county tax records, it's owned by Central Houston Auto Properties LLC, which also owns 2520 and 2521 Main St.(Central Houston Cadillac).

I talked with a developer this week and they mentioned that they had been offered several of the Cadillac lots, but for big money, so it didn't make sense for their type of project. Like $200+ psf.

I did read about how Cadillac was offering to buy back the franchises because they are switching to all EV by the end of the decade. Maybe we'll get lucky.

  • The title was changed to 801 McGowen St.

btw, the address for Rise is 2600 Travis, not 801 McGowan. The only thing that has to do with McGowan street is the ramp you drive up to unload your equipment to play there is on that street.

Does anyone have old phone books from the 60's and can look up to see what car dealership was at that address starting in 1961ish?

From the 1957 (latest I can find with the information) directory on Ancestry.com, it was Smith Chevrolet:

Does anyone know if 2600 Travis St, Suite 100 is leased? The suite was the former home of Bryan Caswell's restaurant Reef and companion bar 3rd Coast. It was situated on the corner of Travis and McGowen.

Marketing materials for other units at 2600 Travis seem to indicate a steakhouse restaurant is opening in suite 100.

An old site plan showed Reef in the unit. However, a site plan from 2021 shows a steakhouse. Recent listings for the 2600 Travis building are advertising other available units.

Does anyone know have further insight?

There is a new tenant for the former Reef unit at 2600 Travis St, Ste 100. Recently, an establishment possibly named Amore or Amore Supper Club applied for liquor permits. 2600 Travis St, Suite 100 is the listed business address.

Last month, two entities connected to Amore were formed. One of the entitles is Tribe Travis LLC.

I don't know if the business will operate as Tribe or if Tribe is some kind of lounge or bar for Amore. It's also possible Tribe Travis LLC as nothing to do with Amore.

Even so, I suspect Amore's concept could be similar to Bisou, Kiss, and Ciel. All three of the aforementioned restaurants are supper clubs in spirit, but are marketed as vibe dining.

The restaurant taking over Reef's former unit at 2600 Travis St, Suite 100 is Koya.

Alcohol permits list Amore / Amore Supper Club. However, a recently installed signage states Koya.

Koya is a supper club / vibe dining venue, similar to Bisou, Kiss, and Ciel. It will also double as a lounge and/or club.

According to Koya's Instagram, this will be a Mediterranean American Fusion restaurant and speakeasy. The address isn't included in the Instagram bio.

A photo outside Koya was shared in an Instagram story yesterday. The Instagram story also provided an estimated opening of Spring 2023.

Koya doesn't have a website yet, but two domains were registered last month:

Koya is a supper club / restaurant coming soon to Midtown. It will be located at 2600 Travis St, Suite 100.

A few weeks ago, Koya updated the scope of its concept on Instagram. Previously, Mediterranean American Fusion restaurant and speakeasy was included in the Instagram bio. Now, it's billed as a Mediterranean Coastal Japanese fine dining restaurant and entertainment venue.

Koya is a supper club / vibe dining venue opening in Midtown. I think it's from Noble One / Noble O1ne, a Houston hospitality group.

The restaurant takes over Reef's former unit at 2600 Travis St, Suite 100.

Koya has held a few private family & friends previews. I think there was one last evening. That's usually an indication an opening is near.

Warehouse Live is closing Dec 3. All operations are moving to Rise Rooftop, which will be rebranded as Warehouse Live.
The entrance is moving to McGowan St, with an elevator so my bud Raul can come to a show.

Rise will shut down for 2 weeks to do the major reconstruction of the interior, this happens after the Dec 16 show.

Any idea if anything will replace warehouse live in eado? Quite a big space to fill.

I doubt if anything can go into that space. The City turned Walker St into a bike lane, that's the load-in area. The owner of the parking lot behind the building has asserted his rights to 8' of the driveway behind the building, that's where the band gear goes in the building.

"Warehouse Live — a live music venue that anchored nightlife in the EaDo area before it was known as EaDo — will close its doors after its Dec. 2 Tribute Fest concert, which will feature 10 tribute bands on two stages.

Also shuttering next month will be the more recently opened Rise Rooftop in Midtown. The last show at Rise Rooftop — which opened on New Year's Eve 2021 — will be Dec. 17.

That space at 2600 Travis will undergo renovations and on Dec. 29, the rebranded Warehouse Live Midtown will open in the Rise Rooftop location with a performance by Sullivan King.

An official "grand reopening celebration" will be held with a Cash Cash performance on Dec. 31. The Rise Rooftop/Warehouse Live Midtown space is described by Big City Entertainment LP as "a unique multi-use concept" with 15,000 square feet and a retractable roof."

Warehouse EaDo is gone. Bye.
The last show was a benefit for one of the security guys, opened and hosted by me.

My favorite show there was Rick Astley in the Ballsroom, and Puddles Pity Party in the Studio. On the Puddles show, I was running all over town fixing other people's screwups when I got a call saying the guy at Warehouse couldn't make Puddles's video screen work right, so off I went. I spent an hour fixing it, and chatting with a guy who was almost 7 feet tall. It was Big Mike, aka Puddles. During the show, he never said a word, he just sang. He would grab people from the audience, bring them onstage, and sing to them, then kick them offstage.  He came out to the crowd, grabbed me, dragged me onstage, and right before he kicked me off the stage, he whispered "you rock" into my ear.

the dumbest show was Drake. I babysat the venue for 3 days while they brought in a set that was a recreation of DJ Screw's storefront. They figured out the set they made was too tall, so they took it back outside and chopped a foot off of it.
