  1. In case no one noticed, they tore out of the trees. And today, I just noticed there was a new street lane that they built.
  2. No worries! It's still good to get updates nonetheless. Yea, you can actually drive behind the SWN Energy building, the Springwoods Village town center area, and even onto Holzwarth over to the Grand Parkway.
  3. Not sure if it is out of the way, but you can actually drive back there now. It's open along the Springwoods Village road but the campus itself is still off limits.
  4. I know, I'm just playing. I'm not sure how much you frequent this forum but I usually welcome all our new guests when I notice it as evidenced in many threads. I sincerely apologize if you were offended, houstontexasjack. No news yet but there are certainly rumors swirling around. This forum will certainly be buzzing when there is something found. Non-jokingly, last word on the block was an 80-85 story tower planned on the east side of downtown near Minute Maid but that information was never confirmed nor denied.
  5. Oh yes, there have been huge developments on this front. All the sources here have been hiding information about it. So far we have 3 proposals. One is 90 stories, the other two are about 80 stories. Ground floor retail.. possible grocery store. No skybridges.. need to make people walk outside. Bike accessible. They are thinking about tying in the Uptown line with this development to make it both car and mass transit friendly. The city got Culberson to agree to this. Hines is the developer, duh. Pickard Chilton is the architect firm. Tower has a nice crown on top with LED features on all sides. The mayor is giving this development a $50 million tax credit. Expect groundbreaking next month in time for the Superbowl. We gotta show this baby off just in time for the cameras.
  6. Based on the numbers, this is clearly about the metro areas. Marriott Marquis is a large hotel and holds 1,000 units. Most carry far fewer than that. 74,700 units sounds about right for a metro area since the Galleria, downtown, and TMC area can't possibly fill in the rest of that alone. Ahhh, now that I'm thinking about it, perhaps this is within the city limits. Nevermind.
  7. Isn't that architecture style called minimalism?
  8. None that I'm aware of. It's always been that "rumored" tower we always have heard about with the renderings always drastically changing. I think it's always been in the proposed status as far as I've known. Think I used the word "always" enough? Edit: Waiting for someone to post "GAME CHANGER" in here......
  9. Grainy pictures... sorry I have the new Samsung Galaxy S5 and moisture got in the lens area somehow. Probably cause I took it in the pool last night. (It's a water proof/resistant phone). So once I got that high vantage point, the moisture had cleared. Really bad quality of the lot north of it.. and I had to take this with my front facing camera while the moisture got out of the back:
  10. Variance sign is now up. They started fencing the property but did not finish today.
  11. Can confirm. My friend was kicked out a while ago. We should see action there soon.
  12. This is the efficiency my friend is looking at at Skyhouse: This is the lounge on the roof: And apparently the views are SO good, that you'll get a view of downtown Austin:
  13. Setting the record straight. Thanks! Wonder why the development map has that typo.
  14. I haven't revealed this on HAIF yet but my best friend is actually looking to live here... possbily. I've been helping him apartment shop in the Washington/downtown/Midtown area. So far, the Washington area looks the most appealing. Annnnyway, we've been going to the leasing office at GreenStreet for a few days now and will be back on Monday or Tuesday. I'll post some of the indoor renderings they emailed to him. I'm actually surprised how expensive some of the units are actually. To get a New York style efficiency unit that has basically your bed, your living room, and your kitchen in ONE room, the entire thing cost $1500 on the sixth floor. May not sound too bad but if they are trying to get "young professionals", it may scare off a few. With the pool on top and the view of downtown, I think it sounds great but my best friend isn't totally sold. I bring this up because since I've been going to the leasing office, there have been A LOT of people in there to buy units. Usually older people, surprisingly. I'd say most of them are in their late 40s and they would appear to be people that work in downtown. In fact, the days that I've gone, they've been closing on units everytime.
  15. Yea, let's throw some numbers around. Crown will make it 70 stories. LOL
  16. Strangely enough, I actually do get a hill country vibe out of it. It looks like something you would see along Lake Travis or near Ladybird Lake, which is definitely the Texas hill country. It's the stone and the metal accents.
  17. Ah ok, I recounted and it may be closer to the upper 40s. What's been confusing me is that development report that listed this as 41-stories. Edit Again! So it looks like this number keeps jumping around: "a 47-story, spec office tower" http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/05/hines-office-tower-designed-to-wow.html
  18. This thing has shrunk, right? Edit: I count somewhere around the lower 40s on this thing. Wasn't it supposed to be 49 floors?
  19. Calling yourself 7 star is just good marketing.
