  2. Just don't invite anyone who owns a Lincoln.
  3. Well, technically the crane has been going up for a month now... it has appeared to stall. What do you mean? Are they actually putting in the final pieces?
  4. Galveston was just really overcast but not too bad. Made for a decent bike ride with the group but there was just too much seaweed on the beach. Guess if you were in Houston though, it probably wasn't too great later in the day.
  5. Why do these people even live in an urban environment if they can't handle what comes with it?
  6. Oddly enough, he is correct in some aspects, particularly towards the end when he asks how these streets will be able to handle all of this development. My main concern right now is actually Westheimer near Highland Park. He's right...the streets cannot currently handle the amount of development on the way. But where he gets it wrong is, all of this development is going to come here either way. No PAC will be able to stop it and even if it can stop it, that has to be the most anti-Houston PAC I've ever heard of. What type of PAC would be against jobs, growth, and opportunity? Would he rather be in Detroit? Austin learned the hard way that they'll come whether you build it or not. Most Houstonians have not experienced the nightmare that is I-35. Austin didn't plan well and I-35 is definitely something you do not want to take. And Austin is booming more in its downtown area more than Houston is, at the moment, which is sure to make matters even worse. Now maybe he is right... maybe BRT is not the right thing to do. But if not, then what?? We can't keep limitlessly expanding our roads. Forget about the freedom of cars. There comes a time when you reach a dead-end to how far you can expand and you have to think of moving people in larger amounts in more efficient ways. Even if you kill the development, you have to think of all the foreigners that are coming to the Galleria area just to shop! That will keep growing until the next recession. Either way, I don't see this PAC gaining Republican nor Democrat support. It just doesn't look good either way. We need a PAC for solutions, not a PAC of "No. No. No."
  7. For discussion of the short-sided political action committee... http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/29707-potential-development-at-post-oak-boulevard-san-felipe-street/#entry462410
  8. Heading out to Galveston on Memorial Day! Can't wait to be driving with all the drunks... :S

  9. Putting up the crane: Edit... oh wow. I just realized, it's been like that for a month now...
  10. Great article on Houston history and the Ashby highrise: http://nextcity.org/daily/entry/ashby-high-rise-lawsuit-houston-developers-sprawl
  11. It looks to be similar to the other one... it just looks a lot more conceptual and less realistic since the building isn't that skinny:
  12. LOL. I didn't create those names. I'm guessing they are randomly generated. Yea, one of them has an.... interesting name. Haha... that certainly would have helped. It is always incredibly windy up there to take pictures of this project.. it appears to come from Discovery Green and the Hess Tower area.
  13. Yea, I'm going to try other methods. Most places I've found, I'm limited by the amount I can upload. Plus, I want them to also be larger in size and somewhat more stable.
  14. Can't wait to go to AvantGarden tonight...

  15. Well the Taylor bridge, the one in the rendering, is fine. The Studewood bridge, the one we were mentioning and the one in the article, is downright terrifying. The article states they aren't sure what caused the fall...??? Let me show you what caused the fall: From Google Streetview. Look at the "sidewalk" and tell me that looks safe. You don't realize just how bad it is until it's too late... or if you need to get to Stude Park from the bike trail, this is one of the quickest ways. Either way, it's a big NO NO NO for me.
  16. I wanted to put that in the opening comment but I decided that was too much. lol
  17. The Houston website is very similar to the Canadian developers website as well.
