  1. The more people actually living in downtown the better!
  2. Not much has changed... still gutting it out. I've noticed a lot of boarded up areas are now open. They've removed little things here and there all over the place. Hopefully my photos don't get too redundant. :S I'll see if I can get other angles of the building to show some of the things they've removed on the outside.
  3. Honestly not trying to be rude to anyone but I'm not quite sure why the same Houston Chronicle article I posted on just the next page over is being posted again. Anyway, 30 to 60 days? Try now! Crews are gutting the building.
  4. I would prefer mixed-use. Residential on top... retail on the bottom since there was clearly retail there to begin with such as the Kwik Kopy sign that is still there. By the way, if the moderators want to move this to the Midtown topic area, that's fine. This isn't exactly "going up" since it's been there for 50 years.
  5. Thanks to lockmat for posting that article in the "Richmond @ Kirby" thread. There was also a tid bit about Keeley Megarity purchasing the abandoned Central Square Plaza in Midtown: The section of the text was midway in the article. What do ya'll think? He can't decided whether he wants it to be commercial or residential? I say, why not both!
  6. So this community center owns all the land from Allen Parkway to Dallas?
  7. Totally agree. I have to look at this eyesore almost everyday. If phase one is any indication, this building will not age well at all. Phase one already has that black mold coming from the top near the roof.
  8. I was right! So there is a transparent section on the top. Even though this thing is only 41 floors, it could very well be taller than One Main Place because of that slanted edge.
  9. Already invited my friends to come to this event. Looks like fun.
  10. Totally agree. There seems to be a lot of negativity towards this building but I think it's nice. I think it's even interesting how parts of the building extend nearly over the sidewalk. Like the overall design as well. Perhaps the tower just isn't.... photogenic.
  11. Right. I didn't realize he was talking about Chevron. Can we at least know what part of the city it's going to be built in?
  12. Hmmm.... Are you referring to the Allen tower? What is it... Allen 5?
  13. Well I certainly hope it's taller but as the renderings show, I believe it really is 41 floors in its current form. Again, if you look closely right above the 41st floor, the windows become more transparent. Even the office lights end about 7 stories from the very top.
  14. This is just such a beautiful tower...
  15. If you look closely at the renderings, it would appear that especially in the dusk-time photos the office lights end directly below where the slanted roof begins. It would appear to me that it's a box tower with a decorative slanted roof. Even in the photo viewing the tower from the north, the slanted roof portion is clearly lighter than the rest of the building. So I suppose the big question now (besides how tall this thing really is going to be.. hopefully taller) is how this tower looks from the east since we haven't been provided with that angle.
  16. Yes, I'm glad this is assaulting the Heights. This penetration into the market is something I've been looking forward to.This invasion--- I mean, this intrusion means that I can spend less gas while the banks and other little necessity stores come closer to me. How sick of me. And how sick is it that this area is growing and prospering.
  17. Was worked on Thursday at noon. So, about three days old.
  18. Still in the works... Edit: For more schematics, here's a thread in the East End forum that shows other projects in the works.
