  1. I believe he's talking about the architecture of most Houston skyscrapers. They are box-like compared to say towers with round tops and/or spires.
  2. Welcome to haif! There's actually already a thread about the ExxonMobil campus on the same page. Here ya go.
  3. Right. I go to UofH (freshman) and most of my friends there realize the things that UH is trying to do by getting a different segment of the population. On a side note, I saw a map the other day of UofH in a decade and it's going to look radically different. Most if not all of the current parking lots will be gone. It was actually posted in another thread... if anyone wants me to put it here, I'll gladly do it.
  4. Yeah, riding the bike down Brays is something I like to do too. The only part I hate so far is the bike detour near TMC. It throws me off everytime so I just take the roads until I can get to the part where the construction ends. It's not that far from MD Anderson so I guess I'm kinda on topic. lol
  5. It's too early to say, but at it's current state, did the Houston Pavillions pretty much fall apart? I checked their website and there are dozens of places that are vacant, especially on the second and third floor.
  6. Wow. Like others said, 288. But there's also the construction of ramps at 610 and Highway 59 that are being built. The Greenspoint area is radically different and it looks like they just finished the feeder roads for the Beltway up there! Veeeeery veeeery cool.
  7. Hmmm... I can't tell what I'm looking at in the base. That blasted shadow!
  8. Wow... all these pictures are outdated. The building is completely covered with tan bricks now. I'll see if I can get some pictures of Venue this weekend.
  9. That is definitely a beautiful picture! My new desktop.
  10. Every weekend I ride my bike down Brays Bayou but yesterday I decided to ride my bike to the building itself. So far, it's only at 23 floors. The bottom 4 floors have massive heights I guess for the grandeur? I'm sure if their heights were cut in half or the floors were the same height as the rest of the floors, then you could probably add another 4 to 5 floors. The bottom floors are that tall! That causes the count to only be 23 instead of 27 or 28, for instance. Im thinking, in the end, the tower may very well be taller than Hess Tower or OPP.
  11. From both 288 and the UH campus. Is there anyone else to back up my claim? It honestly looks taller.
  12. Theyve made considerable progress on the roof. Im over at UH and see the progress everyday from the top floor of the library. How tall is OPP and HT? From all the angles I've seen, Hess Tower looks taller already. I thought OPP was supposed to be higher... ... .. ?
  13. Rode my bike towards the bridge today. So far it's a nightmare trying to find a bike path underneath the bridge that's actually connected to the asphalt MacGregor bike trail since they left a lot of mud everywhere. Kind of made me upset that it took me 25 mins just to find a route that went through since the bike detour takes you in circles.
  14. Oh yes. The silo. Whenever I drive by it after leaving UofH, I always wonder what it is but it doesnt appear to be yellow... it looks like it has a gray (grey?) tint at least on the north side. Also, I havent examined it or anything but I could have sworn it looked wooden. Not sure... maybe thats simply the design.
  15. Drove by it today at around 7:30pm. People are literally worshipping it... people had mats and were bowing down before it... please tell me that was a joke.
  16. Those two towers are clearly not 35 stories. More like 45 to 50 stories.
  17. Someone needs to get a photo of this thing at night. It's absolutely beautiful.
  18. Excellent photos! The girl in the first picture in the very center is my cousin. She and her family were the only reason I was able to get in for free.
  19. Did anyone else notice the Dynamo stadium in the background?
  20. If I remember correctly, it was close to Sugarland. I passed by it just last week.
  21. You didn't look at the photo, did you? 1-45 is completely different in the photo.
  22. What in the world?? I think it's San Antonio in the background. Edit: Oh wait, you know what I just realized? The whole entire picture is a model! It's not even a real photo of Houston. I just thought the colors on the buildings had been changed, but no... if you check the textures around all the skyscrapers, they all have a tan-fake sidewalk. How weird.
