  1. So now we have to call it the Southwest Interstate instead of the Southwest Freeway? That's really going to confuse Lanny Griffith.
  2. To hot in Houston for summer Olympics. Perhaps we should try and get the winter Olympics.
  3. Not sure it can support much more traffic. It's a terrible HOV lane. When there is a breakdown or accident there is little room to pass, so some days I see a worst backup on the HOV lanes then the freeway itself.
  4. That's pretty much my ratio also. HEB is my primary shopping store but I agree you can tell a difference. Steaks and even chicken and fish from Whole Foods, as expensive as they are, taste so much better then other stores. Of course if your into quantity over quality, which most Americans obviously are, then WF is not going to appeal to you.
  5. Personally I think they should dress up like storm troopers.
  6. Bet if you were to hold up a sign warning the drug dealers of the police nearby than you would get arrested.
  7. It's all about revenue. The building department and fire department have imposed a whole bunch of new permits over the last 10 years or so. Unlike the police, they have no other way of generating revenue and were told a long time ago to either bring more money in or cut back on staffing.
  8. Beautiful. What city is that again?
  9. The photos above suggest you will be traveling in style if your first class or business class but for the rest of us I doubt if it's any different from other airlines.
  10. Astros to consider removing train from Minute Maid Park Hope they don't loose the train. It's the best part of Minute Maid Park.
  11. As much as I would like to see him in a Rocket uniform I just don't believe Howard will come to here. Instead I would like to see them move up a few notches before tonight's draft and roll the dice for a top 10 pick.
  12. One could argue whether she deserved a citation or not but to be thrown in jail is going way to overboard. Shame on them.
  13. Hopefully they have improved the foam insulation. In the old days it was flammable and quite toxic.
  14. Totally agree. It's just common courtesy but that's something lacking these days with way to many drivers. Guess that's why they are creating these laws. Here's what I know about tow truck drivers and I'm not trying to defend them. Many times they do beat police and fire to accidents. The good tow drivers will turn on their emergency lights to divert traffic and protect the accident scene. They will stay and help block traffic for police and fire which is greatly appreciated by the emergency responders because there is rarely enough police vehicles at an accident scene. The police will eventually determine how many vehicles will need to be towed. It does not come down to who got their first because the police have no idea. It's basically a lottery system from then on. Cops don't hassle tow truck drivers because they do assist them. That does not give them the right to drive dangerously but it is a cut throat business and unfortunately nice guys finish last.
  15. Couldn't agree more. Nothing heroic about a job your trained and paid to do. I doubt there are any police, firefighters or soldiers that really consider themselves heroes even though the media is always trying to slap that label on them. Real heroes are the ones that sacrifice themselves for nothing more than to help someone else.
  16. I'm sure there are people out there perfectly capable of texting while driving safely just like there are people that can still drive after consuming large amounts of alcohol. I also realize there are other distractions that are just as dangerous. I see women applying makeup in their cars every morning driving to work. I've seen people reading the paper while driving down the freeway. It's just that texting has become so popular you see people doing it much more often today than say five years ago. And I suspect it's only going to get worse. Must we wait for more serious accidents to occur before doing something?
  17. It's amazing how many idiots I see every day swerving in and out of their lane, driving slower than the rest of the traffic, completely oblivious to any other vehicles on the road, then I pass and see them with a phone in hand obviously texting. I'm sure every one of them would tell you they are fully capable of texting while driving safely just like a person who had to much to drink would tell you. I would love to see a law against texting while driving but realize it would be hard to enforce. Although if they cause an accident I would like them treated no differently than a drunk driver.
  18. That could be. I played it in the mid 80's and then not again until 02 - 03. Now that I think of it the clubhouse was fairly new when I played around 10 years ago.
  19. I will be at Warehouse Live that evening. Bought tickets weeks ago.
  20. Well, if they shot him in the head he's done. Otherwise I would be keeping an eye on him while in the morgue.
