  1. Hopefully they have improved the foam insulation. In the old days it was flammable and quite toxic.
  2. Totally agree. It's just common courtesy but that's something lacking these days with way to many drivers. Guess that's why they are creating these laws. Here's what I know about tow truck drivers and I'm not trying to defend them. Many times they do beat police and fire to accidents. The good tow drivers will turn on their emergency lights to divert traffic and protect the accident scene. They will stay and help block traffic for police and fire which is greatly appreciated by the emergency responders because there is rarely enough police vehicles at an accident scene. The police will eventually determine how many vehicles will need to be towed. It does not come down to who got their first because the police have no idea. It's basically a lottery system from then on. Cops don't hassle tow truck drivers because they do assist them. That does not give them the right to drive dangerously but it is a cut throat business and unfortunately nice guys finish last.
  3. Couldn't agree more. Nothing heroic about a job your trained and paid to do. I doubt there are any police, firefighters or soldiers that really consider themselves heroes even though the media is always trying to slap that label on them. Real heroes are the ones that sacrifice themselves for nothing more than to help someone else.
  4. I'm sure there are people out there perfectly capable of texting while driving safely just like there are people that can still drive after consuming large amounts of alcohol. I also realize there are other distractions that are just as dangerous. I see women applying makeup in their cars every morning driving to work. I've seen people reading the paper while driving down the freeway. It's just that texting has become so popular you see people doing it much more often today than say five years ago. And I suspect it's only going to get worse. Must we wait for more serious accidents to occur before doing something?
  5. It's amazing how many idiots I see every day swerving in and out of their lane, driving slower than the rest of the traffic, completely oblivious to any other vehicles on the road, then I pass and see them with a phone in hand obviously texting. I'm sure every one of them would tell you they are fully capable of texting while driving safely just like a person who had to much to drink would tell you. I would love to see a law against texting while driving but realize it would be hard to enforce. Although if they cause an accident I would like them treated no differently than a drunk driver.
  6. That could be. I played it in the mid 80's and then not again until 02 - 03. Now that I think of it the clubhouse was fairly new when I played around 10 years ago.
  7. I will be at Warehouse Live that evening. Bought tickets weeks ago.
  8. Well, if they shot him in the head he's done. Otherwise I would be keeping an eye on him while in the morgue.
  9. Tell that to the guy that had his face eaten off last week in Miami.
  10. I agree. Better beer choices, better food, better overall atmosphere.
  11. I read a while back that the West Oaks Alamo was going to shut down. Wish they would open one in Sugar Land. Their burgers are okay but like asubrt said, the beer is what draws people. Bring your growler. Plus because they serve liquor you don't get the loud obnoxious teenagers that are at all the other theaters.
  12. The Mexicans are snatching them up. http://www.chron.com/default/article/Mexican-buyers-fuel-area-property-market-3586941.php
  13. As soon as my contact expires I'm upgrading.
  14. I saw that article. What's dumb is how they include California's In-N-Out burger. Although it might rank high in comparison to some fast food burgers, it's absolutely no comparison to a good restaurant's burger. (Actually had one in Fort Worth a couple of months ago and I fail to see the fascination). That being said I did eat a burger at the Healdsburg Bar & Grill (#22) last month and it really was good. Also ate a Super Duper Burger while in SF. Don't know for sure if it's a chain but probably one of the best fast food burgers I've ever had.
  15. I like them. Their menu is huge and food has always been good. I frequent the one on Montrose. At the one on Richmond your pretty much forced to valet park so I rarely go there. Food is not any pricier then say Papasitos or Lupe's. Their margaritas are outstanding. Also love the refried bean dip.
  16. No problem As in people that respond "no problem" when you thank them. Of course I have been guilty of it myself despite trying to refrain from uttering those words.
  17. Thanks for the reply. I knew someone would know. I had never heard of such a thing.
  18. While thumbing through my refrigerator manual yesterday I ran across the following: I guess I'm naive but what religion could this possible refer to and why would the use of an ice maker and refrigerator lights not be allowed?
  19. Hopefully the course is making enough money to pay for it's own upkeep. I haven't played there in about 4 or 5 years. I liked the old layout better. When the clubhouse and number 1 tee was up by the zoo. They used to share the same parking lot. They redesigned it I believe in the 80's. I like old courses like Herman and Sharpstown because they are good walking courses. Newer courses are not designed for walking. Of course I only play about 5 or 6 times a year. I don't even keep score. I just enjoy relaxing and being outdoors. That's the way golf should be played. Some people take it way to serious.
  20. Ha. I don't miss those days at all.
  21. I believe the 90 year old Herman Park course is Houston's oldest golf course and I think an inner-city golf course is good for the community.
