The city needs to really do something about that area. It would be nice if they used the space under the freeway for a nice park. I also envision the Wheeler TC to be more exciting. Like why not build a large bus depot type building with the trains entering. I could see that station being a major interchange for transfers. Idk just my opinion.

Use public transportation... you can't complain about parking yet favor more pedestrian friendly development and expect them to invest more to build a parking garage so you can neglect the transportation system you have in place to use. I ride the 36 to RedLine South every day and it's great.- 415 replies

Thank God, that Wendy's was terrible. I hope that plot of land becomes something to add to the area.

I mean why would they spend so much to improve a parking garage unless they expect to get some sort of return out of it. I feel it's either just updates to the garage, or prepping the garage for a retail tenant/tenants... because wasn't the original idea to demolish it for a multi-use project? Just seems odd -

I've asked the same question with little response. It seems like they are renovating the building for better street presence. I would like to know what retailer has signed on though to be the anchor tenant. -
I saw construction workers doing work on the Sakowitz building (hope I spelled that right)... I couldn't take a pic because I was on the train

Yeah that long construction time always has to do with money. If you can space out how you pay for the project over a certain amount of time, the developer has more leverage in case anything goes wrong financially. The contract was given to the lowest bidder of course but in return you sacrifice how fast it gets built.

Well a lot of the sidewalks are getting redone in Midtown. I think a few of these 3 foot sidewalks have nothing to do with the developer but more to do with the Midtown Redevelopment Authority. They started work on Holman, which was in dire need of new sidewalks.- 200 replies

Man what a bunch of idiots running the Lancaster... I will never recommend anyone stay there

This stuff looks cool, idk what everyone is complaining about. They have fun art installations like this in every major city, like Philly, NYC, Chicago. And as it ages I think it's gonna look even better, with the grit and normal wear and tear of the city.

It would be awesome if there were boats coming from Buffalo Bayou to the terminal. Turn the terminal in to a destination. You get a tour of where Houston began, then you tour the port and end at the terminal where there are restaurants, gift shops etc. Make it a day tour thing for tourists.
