  1. Im so lost, ok whats thesmall structure being built on the bottom left and then whats being built across the street with the yellow crane?
  2. Anyone have a for sure update on this? After reading about the Old Central Square building somehow not being renovated, I want to make sure this doesn't pop up in a Swamplot article as well in the next few weeks
  3. Umm... that sounds dumb by Swamplot... Its clear a fence has gone up for renovation... why would they worry about vagrants and taggers? We didn't do this for the Old County Courthouse during renovation and that's a way more historic building than this one... I think its clear the developers are heading in a redevelopment direction, just not clear whether its residential or commercial
  4. Good article... The good thing is that the pressure is on now... Once the SE and East End lines open, I can see the pressure increase that much more to connect this city East to West
  5. The news sucks but we still got a lot to look forward to DT
  6. If there is one building I hate the outside of its the Houston Post building, a nice solid color would be great
  7. Im sorry for being a bit lost... But what park is that with the Midtown letters?
  8. So we have the Savoy, the old Central Bank, the Texaco building, and the new JW Marriott... I NEVER would have imagined all of these buildings being revitalized all at once... And then you include the new contruction in progress, this is leaving me speechless to say the least
  9. This line alone opens up the door for more people to travel downtown, which only means one thing... we can expect more businesses to begin popping up
  10. I've done demolition, and there is no such thing as a "slow demo." When we did demo on the Old Harris County Courthouse, the process too an entire year. Mostly because of the slow process of asbestos abatement. Any other problems we encountered revolved around massive old piping that needed to be welded off and carried slowly down the building floor by floor. Much like what they are doing with these water towers. This also doesn't include any walls that are being knocked out as part of the redevelopment, and what kind of materials such as piping, concrete, etc these walls contain that is slowing the process. So whatever the speed. there are certain precautions these guys have to take by the city and their company, I mean this building hasn't been touched in how long?
  11. I think this is getting a little stupid... its not hard to attract retailers and spur development if incentives are given much like the housing incentives the city gives to developers. Once something begins to establish itself, the economy will do the rest. Houston is a hot bed for development and I feel like we are taking our sweet time "looking for a consultant" for something that seems pretty much common sense. Just my opinion.
  12. So I guess its safe to assume we could see some retail begin to establish itself by next yr?
  13. All these residential projects are all getting off the ground at the same time, from Midtown to Downtown, its gonna be neat to see how they all kind of come together in the next couple of years. I see more foot traffic and more basic amenities such as your typical coffee shops, dry cleaners, etc. I think many of our visitors for the Super Bowl are going to have a better experience in this city.
  14. Some of yall are taking my comment a little too literal. The fact the design is anything outside of a simple box is enough to boost better development downtown. This building is beautiful and is going to really be set apart as something to really look at when its built. I think out of towners during the Super Bowl will be even more impressed. JMO
  15. This building alone is going to take Houston to another level
  16. I think what I love most about this project, is that foot traffic should increase next to those really nice art galleries.
  17. I'm am so impressed I'm speechless. This is what Houston is becoming, I'm just... wow... I don't know what the hell to say
