I like the design. It fits in very well with the buildings around it, and ground floor retail is going to really add to that area. I see the area around the ballpark becoming very fan friendly before games, much like around BBVA Compass stadium. GO STROS!

I think as the city continues to go through this new phase of development and growth, we will begin to see better sidewalks. It seems that after the bust back in the 80's Houston began to really neglect itself because no much was happening as far as development. Now that we see cranes across the city, I'm sure something will eventually be done due to people moving back into the city and denser neighborhoods. Either way, if we want a quicker solution to the problem, we need to let city council hear us.

Unless your implying that there is "Much good" going on in the neighborhood, yea idk, I tried lol -
This is great news but I also noticed MATCH is barely at 61% total funding for their project. How likely are either of these to actually happen?

I mean its the difference in saying "Much good" and "Very good"... either way it looks great! -
I mean as long as this thing is brought back to life that's all I care about. Just happy to finally see these abandoned buildings on the southern part of downtown get revitalized.

Whats the name of that small building in the middle. I know they're lofts but I forgot their name. They seem to have done well these past few years, even though the south side of downtown doesn't have much going on around it.- 722 replies

As crazy as some people may think it is, I agree 100%. I remember the city considering changing the street name when Mayor White was in office, but I never heard much after that. Id just rename it to Houston St. or hell make it a Blvd and name it Houston Blvd. -
You make a very solid point which I agree with. The only optimism I hold on to is how fast developers are jumping on starting new projects. Its at such a feverish pace that I personally believe we could hear somethibg as soon as this is torn down. Its a prime piece of real estate.

This ”proposal” is going to get passed. Everyone loves a tax break. This is far from just a dream, Houston is the place to be. Some of you in this forum that believe this is all just a dream havent realized that this is where EVERYONE is coming. Houston isnt the 3rd wheel city anymore. We are become a premier spot nationally! -
Im sure they will come sure enough but its still tough to see this go. The good thing is that it can only get better not worse. Nothing is worse than a parking lot.

Downtown Houston 2025 Master Plan
j_cuevas713 replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
That may be the case here in Houston, but once a stable downtown is created, it's only going to have a greater effect on outlining neighborhoods. Houston is spread out, so yeah those neighborhoods have developed very organically, with little to no help from downtown activity, which is really a good thing. What I'm saying is that when downtown DOES become a more centralized hub of activity, it can only build on itself outwards toward those neighborhoods, thus enhancing whats already been created. -
I took my girlfriend to eat in Montrose the other night, for the most part, yes, the city should be more concerned with better sidewalks. It would only enhance the area. Not saying every sidewalk in the area is terrible, but there were some small pockets where it was kind of hard to walk through. I say we make our voice be heard to city council and get something done.
