Oh and if this project is for real, then this along with the Market Square residential is going to be amazing. Is there an exact start date, or can we just expect something next month?- 911 replies

I think economically it will happen on its own. We all know that everything revolves around the almighty dollar. Once the Sunset Coffee building is complete, you can expect smaller developments to follow suit. I find it such an honor to know that our city has one of the top ten public green spaces in America. We are really growing in a smarter way and at a fast rate. This is my theory on the entire situation of what is "Houston." Houston has no zoning, yet the lack of zoning has almost been a plus in the development of some very unique neighborhoods. Sure its created some undesirable areas, but because the city filling in so nice with newer walk friendly developments, the old run down areas of the city are being transformed as well. Just driving down West Alabama and Kirby the other day I saw a small glimpse of where this city is headed. Houston is a very nice city.

This project and MATCH are some real game changers for Midtown because we are starting to see more stable long term investment in Midtown as a registered arts district. Houston is definitely placing itself in a league of its own in this state. I've seen this city lose its identity some 25+ years ago and come back with a new identity of who we are as Houstonians. And to get back on topic, let's just agree that the light rail will continue to spur development that will only continue to offset the price tag of the construction of the system itself.

The homeless were always really nice to me any time I wandered that direction. But in any case, its best if they move along and allow this area to be a bit more appealing to those that want to embrace what this city has to offer.

That's a great point because I drove by today and thought the same thing. It's not like that area surrounding the tower is ugly, but it is in dire need of some connecting developments with its surroundings. I think this tower is going to create that connection.

No, we are just killing them when it comes to downtown redevelopment. And they are trying with all their might to make "Uptown" Dallas the happening spot, when in reality, its pretty lame -
If there is a topic already started can someone open it for me, but whats begin built behind the Crowne Plaza off 59?

Wow so along with Levy Park not too far away and the other development a little further down Richmond in Greenway Plaza, this area is gonna really beef up. I go to the Art Institute and I don't know if anyone else noticed, but they redeveloped the River Oaks hospital area too.

That picture alone made me realize that all the hate Houston gets is unwarranted... I mean not as of late, but in the past... Houston has been getting a lot of love the past 3 years from the media... GO STROS!

People in Dallas have to be dying in envy lol... HTown! -
Life around the ballpark is going to be so cool. Kinda like Wrigley Field in Chicago. We have bars surrounding every side of the ballpark except right in front. So this is going to be a big game changer for the area.

I can't find the original topic so can a mod please merge topics for me? I noticed today that they seem to be building some sort of frame on the existing Houston Club site as they demo the building. Are they building as they demo? I've never seen anything like this before.
