Dallas to Houston high-speed train opposed by rural Texas lawmakers
j_cuevas713 replied to H.Ham's topic in Transit
And even then most cities with light rail aren't traveling at crazy speeds. It's usually the same speeds as traffic. Look at cities like Philly, Boston, with at grade light rail. -

Texas Tower: Office Skyscraper At 845 Texas Ave.

I honestly believe downtown needs to bring in new forms of business. Oil has been the brand downtown but I'd like to see other types of business whether retail, real estate, etc set up shop in some of these buildings. Houston is definitely at a turning point for redefining itself.- 2,217 replies

Well IF the station is going to be built here, you can bet a developer is going to create some city centre environment for visitors. We should call it little dallass

Thank goodness this church is taking over that terrible development.Regardless of your beliefs, I've always felt that a church provides a solid anchor for future development. A church brings with it a sense of community and neighborhood. Plus they are usually well kept up with.

Thank God! FINALLY! Place was a dump

And it begins... driving through the East End yesterday, I tried my best to envision a covered freeway park. I guess when it all comes together, it will really connect downtown to the East End. The good thing is a lot of the sidewalks and walkability will increase greatly on that end of town due to the construction. I guess I'm a little bummed to see a couple of historic buildings with so much potential get leveled to the ground.

Let's get out there and show city council we need a new bike plan. I can't believe anyone on city council is even asking if we even need a plan. That blows my mind to pieces. Anyways, let's support this progressive movement! http://bikehouston.org/calendar/#!event/2017/2/21/public-session-on-houston-bike-plan-before-the-vote

I almost feel like Metro should make a few of those medians fully paved over and easy to cross for pedestrians. I mean you already have to cross the tracks to get across the street or get on a station platform.- 1,569 replies

I wish they would link up Galveston and Houston before doing this. I'm not a fan of the train because I personally think it's a waste of money, and I support transit of all kinds!
