  1. While I like many of the designs of a lot of these new mid-rises, I wish more were clean and simple like this.
  2. I noticed the turning lane at Smith and Capitol. And I noticed people turning in front of the train a few streets before that as well, as if they are either afraid to turn on the tracks or they are confused how the turning lane works. And thanks for letting me know they are running the trains thru rush hr, I've just never seen them go past Main during that time. Not saying they don't run at all.
  3. All thats left is for another developer to tear down the old Macys garage and add another tower
  4. I'm curious as to why there is a turning lane next to both of these lines downtown. Like isn't that asking for an accident to happen? I totally get having the turning lane on the tracks which is cool but not next to the tracks. Am I missing something here? And I also noticed that during rush hour the purple and green line don't run trains all the way through. I wonder if there is fear of a collision.
  5. Nice I work right next to Damian's on the same block. It amazes me how Houston is starting to have its own "look" if that makes any sense. Like you know when something is shot in LA or NYC or even Chicago, etc and you know what city it is. We are getting our own style and it's freaking awesome!
  6. I mean that could be said for any major city.
  7. A lot of it is people going back to school. That's what Metro had hoped for, which is a good thing.
  8. My apologies, I had my exposure set high on my phone.
  9. Haha I'm joking man... no I totally get the crazy traffic argument, but this would be a nice addition to the Houston area.
  10. The people in Katy are idiots. All they want is their fields of nothing and their Bass Pro Shop.
  11. While I agree about those businesses, I don't think they are a horrendous eyesore. I do agree I wish the Pico's was another midrise or highrise. It would def add to the density of the area. I would rather see that little plaza where Taco Cabana is at be transformed in to a more open, urban park area.
  12. I also wonder how Houston will look in the next 15 years. If we continue to develop and grow like this Houston is going to be a very well balanced city.
  13. The Dome is our Eiffel Tower, and if remodeled it could be a masterpiece for this city. I actually appreciate all the politics Judge Emmett is using to save the place.
  14. Completely agree. I think what hurt downtown for so many years, compared to many other cities, is that we pushed all of our development away from our core. For example, and this question is rhetorical, but why is the Houston Imrpov in an entertainment center off of Katy Frwy? Why is Dave & Busters not downtown? I guess my point is the city focused on the area considered "Houston" as a whole and neglected trying to grow from the core outward. The good thing is that things are finally starting to balance out a bit across the city. And as Houston grows denser and continues to fill in the gaps, a more vibrant, better organized city, with multiple central cores will begin to connect fluidly.
  15. Someone's gonna have a serious LSD trip in this park
  16. I was in New Orleans this past weekend, and I was thoroughly impressed with how they save all their old architecture while still building new buildings alongside. We can't continue to destroy the history of this city to save money. Not only do we fail to remember how we have grown but we neglect the charm a city this size can have by maintaining it's older structures. I'm thankful this building is being renovated.
  17. It's actually a pretty common term. People in L.A. use it all the time.
  18. That's true, I'm just saying I wish there was a plan to maybe open that area up more. I think it would have been nice to have walkways through the GRB in to Discovery Green. And close off that back street to allow foot traffic much like they are doing to the front.
  19. I wonder if they would ever consider opening up the eastern side of the GRB? Like a grand entrance, possibly shutting down part of the street that runs parallel to it. Just so it doesn't become an ever bigger divide between EaDo and Downtown
  20. I'm sure the Marlowe will start this yr for sure. prob a simple delay. I heard pre-leasing is at what, like 40% or so? Not sure.
  21. Thank God something on San Jac is getting renovated!
