This looks great. As a proud Alumni I sure hope the Big 12 takes notice and makes the right choice and invites U.of H. into the conference.

There could be some great rivalries and big time games played here either at TDECU and conference playoffs in Houston in NRG!

Does this bring more money to UofH?

Absolutely! Getting into the Big 12, alone,  will increase our Athletic revenue to the $30+ million range.

We currently make about $2 million in the American Athletic Conference. The basketball renovation will have a strong ROI.

If you've been following, UH is one of the heavy  favorites to get the 2 or 4 program invite. Other heavy favorites include University of Cincinnati and BYU but most are starting the feel that BYU's culture, and high demands, will not be a fit for the Big 12. Plus there is the fact that No other Power conference, under any circumstances,  would ever take BYU. the same can not be said for the University of Houston so look for the Big 12 to invite UH sooner than later.

^^^ basically every time that we turn around, you guy's are either planning, are starting to construct your needed athletics facilities.  on the other hand, TEXAS has a bazillion items that they have been contemplating for a few years now and yet officials have not begun construction.  we have not referenced any new renderings / concepts thus far... nothing!  the ERWIN CENTER (TEXAS current basketball facility) shall need to be torn down to make room for the new DELL MEDICAL CENTER on campus.  this new TEXAS basketball facility is currently estimated at between ($500mm to $600mm) and to date, we have not referenced one concept rendering.  everybody in the nation is now aware that TEXAS is contemplating finally enclosing the DKR MEMORIAL STADIUM.  this last phase shall involve the reconstruction / expansion of the SEZ (south end zone) of the stadium as well as the MONCRIEF NEUHAUS athletics center.  from all of the whispers that we have been hearing throughout our many many many TEXAS fan websites, this new and final phase of DKR shall indeed become a masterpiece in design.  it shall incorporate (stores, restaurants, chair back seating, new club seating, new weight room, new locker rooms, coaches offices, lounges, meeting places, suites, the works).  once this phase is completed, not only shall DKR become fully enclosed, the stadium shall become the 2nd or 3rd largest facility of its kind in the nation.  the current GODZILLATRON (TEXAS famous and world renown HUGE scoreboard) shall be torn down and scrapped.  the newest scoreboard addition shall be state of the art, and will be the largest video board in the world.  the estimated cost of this final phase of DKR and MONCRIEF expansion is currently at ($500mm +).  TEXAS shall also incorporate the tearing down of the dilapidated indoor bubble football facility.  (can anyone upon HAIF actually believe that TEXAS still has it's football team practicing inside of a dilapidated bubble?  every time that i see it, it makes my stomach ache)  TEXAS is currently constructing a brand new state of the art TENNIS FACILITY that should be second to none.  TEXAS shall also have to construct a brand new basketball practice facility for both men's and women's teams with all of the bells and whistles.  not to mention, there are also plans for new additions to our baseball facilities as well.  YES, all of this, and we still have not viewed one rendering / concept.  all that we keep getting are whispers here and there.. and promises that whatever they come up with, shall shock the world......

New student housing building will replace the oldest one on campus.

http://thedailycougar.com/2016/09/21/college-town-developer-marketing-new-apartment-uh-students/

There’s a clear demand for on or near-campus housing at UH. In September, Chancellor and President Renu Khator announced that all beds on campus were filled. The Quadrangle, the oldest student housing on campus, will be demolished after spring 2017 to make way for updated housing. In the meantime, hundreds of students will need to find alternatives.

I've seen that a couple of times.  It seems like it's a giant rack with pieces of steel on it - the metal looks to be disconnected from the body and just sitting there.  Haven't had the time to go investigate it properly though
