Saw the guy installing the SWPPP sign so I stoped to talk with him. He said they will be tearing up the sidewalks and after that they can put the silt screens around the site. He said he will be coming by here for the next several weeks to verify.

This seems to be moving right along, new sign and workers taking down an electrical wire. No exterior demo yet on the London Underground Salon.

There are only 4 buildings remaining on the property, Google maps shows more but the one facing Marshall is already gone and the one behind it is too. More demo permits have been let for those remaining.

Guess who flagged the future 36 story apartments.

They got started as soon as they got the permits. Nothing will keep a crackhead out, not even a fence.

1 house down 2 more to go, the old London Underground Salon and the Bacco Wine Bar plus 2 garage apartments. Crackheads are just going over the fence now trying to scavenge whatever they can find.

 

They also moved the school bus.

When this gets built and the Skanska Westmont is built it's going to look a lot like Post Oak Blvd. or downtown and really confuse the suburbanites. That is the old Bacco's Wine Bar coming down.

No more Bacco's, London Underground is next down.

All the buildings are gone. London Underground Salon on the right and Bacco's Wine Bar to the left. It's amazing that something that has stood for decades can come down in just a matter of a few hours.

 

909 and 911 Kipling St. in one big pile. The alley way is the boundary of the property to the east.

 

I'm guessing these huge oak trees will have to come down, their roots are making the sidewalk almost unwalkable.

That would seem like an amenity that would attract potential residents. Far better than humping the bike down the elevator, apologizing to all and sundry. It's even better if they have a bike vise available for maintenance.

Now I really wish the Disco Kroger development was something more than a wrap. At least the former Mattress Firm/Specs/Half Price Books location should also be a sustainable development. But if the Disco Kroger location would have also been a high rise, it would really have a nice affect on the area.

It looks set back far enough from Montrose that the trees might be kept. I really hope the trees are not cut down.
