Avossos
@UtterlyUrban, yes this is a real project. @Howard Huge, yes this site is the old Loomis armored truck facility.@j_cuevas713. A start date has not been announced yet. We are still accessing the interest level on our website, www.surgehomes.com. @toxtehogrady. Our sign was mistakenly placed in the right of way of the Heights bike trail and we removed it as soon as we were alerted of this mistake.@ surge - this is by far the best proposal Yall came out with recently. So much potential in that area.
Triton
So Surge Homes, you are planning a park on the northern side of this development or will this be an open lawn?
Grizzly46
Nice. There condos would be a great buy. I would much rather own a condo rather than live in an apartment. I am guessing that these things will fly off the market.
Surge Homes
So Surge Homes, you are planning a park on the northern side of this development or will this be an open lawn? @Triton, The grassy area north of Maple Street is not part of our parcel. It is owned by the City of Houston and managed by the Park and Recreation Department.
fkp5
@Surge Homes, Do you have any plans to build any more condos in downtown, or will you wait and see how this first project does first? Also, do you have any plans to eventually build a high-rise condo building, or are you just focusing on mid-rise condos right now? Thanks. toxtethogrady
I got a look at the HBJ article. JoninATX
I love the design, but they should have considered putting street level retail at the bottom. Edited November 16, 2014 by JoninATX
Urbannizer
http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/11/19/more-details-revealed-for-new-condominium-projects.html?page=2 The company's more ambitious plans include four midrise condominium projects, which will appeal to a wide range of Houstonians from young professionals to empty-nesters. Construction on these projects is expected to begin in fall 2015, and will start delivering the first units in fall 2016.

houstontexasjack
I'd think there will be demand for well-designed floor plans. The shortage of single-family is pretty significant, and it will take a couple years for the market to satisfy the demand. This location is near a boatload of development near MMP, and should be attractive for empty nesters looking to move closer in and young professional Millenials looking to buy. UtterlyUrban
A year away before construction begins?A "new" firm to Houston?Multiple developments?I would wager that these will not be built. BigFootsSocks
I believe they bought one of their properties 10 years ago, and some posters have mentioned earlier projects of theirs.
HoustonMidtown
A "new" firm to Houston? They aren't new....they (same people, different company I believe) built Vistas, Piedmont, etc.... Check out the "About Us" section on their website..... downtownian
Fit, attractive people that drive Audis no doubt. I do Crossfit five times a week, am told I am fairly handsome by my mom, drive an A4 and live downtown so all of these renderings make sense to me. 5
Ross
I love the design, but they should have considered putting street level retail at the bottom. For all we know, they did consider street level retail, and determined it didn't work. I still think ground floor retail = empty space.

asubrt
Has anything happened with ANY of the Surge Homes properties? They came in guns-a-blazin' with 10 different multifamily projects/townhomes but have been extremely quiet since then. I wonder if their representative who has an account on here can provide information on any progress (or lack thereof).

toxtethogrady
$140,000 for a condo in Midtown is pretty reasonable. Especially if interest rates remain low.
Surge Homes
Hello all, Thank for your interest in our developments and this opportunity to provide an update on our communications. We have been quite active in our communications since November 2014. We have published six press releases and have been covered by the Houston Business Journal and Chron.com. One of the news items published pertained the hiring of a very experienced homebuilder who joined Surge Homes as V.P. Development and Construction (see all press releases and news coverage at https://www.surgehomes.com/news-coverage). We’ve also been busy writing many social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+). Last month, we sent out our first e-newsletter, “The Surge Factor,” to keep in touch with the 3030 people who completed an online registration on our website. By the way, in order to get the latest news from Surge Homes, we suggest people register at www.surgehomes.com. If you do so and also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Google +, you won’t miss a beat concerning the progress of our Inner Loop communities. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/surgehomesTwitter: https://twitter.com/SurgeHomesGoogle+: https://plus.google.com/+Surgehomes/posts You can also register on our Blog/News section to receive updates by e-mail (rather than via social media posts).Blog / News: https://www.surgehomes.com/blog We are also on LinkedIn, but this is more for networking with the realtor community and job offers. https://www.linkedin.com/company/surge-homes To update you on our progress, Surge Homes is continuing its innovative approach to build communities with the input of future residents and neighbors (and not only the real estate professionals normally involved in residential developments). We received a higher than expected volume of registrations and comments from our Insiders Club online, as well as from our clients who purchased Surge Homes VIP Certificate at our Discovery Center. A total of 3400 people made comments on our proposed developments. The launch of the VIP Certificate sales was the highlight of January 2015 since 150+ people showed up on the first afternoon in order to make a deposit and be invited first when the homes will be up for sale. The article was posted by HoustonMidtown above. In February, March, and April 2015, we have done just as we promised to the community: we compiled the preferences of thousands of Houstonians from comments provided online and in-person from our VIPs who made deposits, and have been integrating their suggestions and selections in order to build the right home, at the right price, at the right location. This week we will be sending our second installment of “The Surge Factor,” which will contain some detailed information on our upcoming residential developments. The newsletter will be sent Thursday to those who are registered on our website. Thanks LS27 and asubrt for making a request for an update.
