Some updates:

1. They're already closing down Color Jam to prime and repaint in the morning.

2. Renner's Trumpet Flower was due to go up starting today but is now delayed because of permitting.

Memphis Design was a trend in the 80's. And, that is where it needs to stay, nicely caged and away from view. It was miserable then and it is abysmal now.

I for one don't hate it. I love being reminded of my trapper keeper from fourth grade

I don't hate it either, but would much much much prefer something by Lisa Frank. I mean, if you're going FULL acid trip, you might as well go FULL acid trip...

Edit: The sculptures are quite goofy (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters). I like them though. Would be nice to have something more permanent/timeless/expensive.

All the planters are filled now?

awesome!  In 2 years, given budget woes and Cities being cities, the will all look like s**t..   Doubt me?  Look at all the other planter boxes around downtown.  Of all the improvements cities can make that have LONG TERM impacts, planter boxes are the worst idea, IMO..... They are never properly maintained, are the first expense cut when budgets decline, and the last to receive funding when budgets return.

IMO city has done a good job with continued upkeep dating back to 2004 of the Main St planter boxes along center divider in the north end.

well then, as long as I still work downtown, I'll have to seed bomb them when I see the need arise.

and they need to embrace the colorful intersection as permanent and stain/seal it, or use the same paint (just different pigments) as they have for the bike lane on lamar.
