The Maritime Museum signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Port of Houston to build a new museum adjacent to the Port of Houston’s Sam Houston Pavilion at the Turning Basin. The Museum was required to raise $1.5 Million by June 2013. The new museum was to have opened in 2014. Obviously, they didn't make that deadline. The design provided for first floor office space and accommodated 35 residences on the upper floors.
