hindesky
Talked with a Gilbane worker who said both tower cranes are coming down this weekend, the western one today and the eastern one on Sunday.
hindesky
They were working on removing the second crane today. I asked what was going to continue placing the panels and was told they had moveable rig with a short boom and outriggers on the top floor.

j_cuevas713
We have to assume some level of retail (dry goods) will pop up here right? It just seems like a perfect location for clothing as well.
mollusk
Based on Crockpot's linked article from Friday, it looks like the entire new ground floor area is taken up by the food hall and its back rooms.

I just don't see it staying that way forever. As it settles in I'm pretty sure there will be additional space made for retail. Especially if they want to compare it to anything in NY. Texasota
This is intended to be a food hall. They absolutely *could* add clothing or similar retail, but I would really be surprised by that. And New York has a number of food halls with no other retail, as do lots of other cities. Houston is a bit behind the times on them.

bobruss
Drove by yesterday and it really is coming together. Its going to be a nice addition and really a nice looking parking garage. Its a welcome change to some of our other new parking garages. Its just goes to show you that if a developer wants to put the money in and encourages his architect to create a more intriguing and attractive garage it can be done.

bobruss
Hopefully this will raise the bar for parking garages., and maybe they'll see the value in retail. It certainly changes the street view. Edited February 19, 2018 by bobruss
