  1. CultureMap/InnovationMap story from Friday reports on a study ranking the top tech cities in the US. The headline: "Houston Falls Behind Other Texas Cities In Report Ranking Best Tech Hubs". First sentence: " . . . Houston failed to crack the top 20 — unlike a few other Texas cities." Total focus on the negative. What is with Houston media (and Houstonians, in general)? One has to study the article and attached graphic pretty hard to discover that this report ranks Houston among the top 25 tech cities in the country (#22). I can't imagine media in any other city reporting it this way.
  2. The project described in the linked Instagram post is not part of the Texas Central project.
  3. I presume you meant across the street from JPMorgan Chase Tower on Travis.
  4. . I noted that too! This guy must be new here.
  5. Cool. But where are the restaurants and shops they say they are making space for? And is there a plan to relocate the Family Law Center?
  6. Renderings of work being done at Hobby
  7. And are they really reactivating bus stops? I noticed one of the deactivated stops last night. It still had the shelter and a sign, but the sign said the bus stop was closed.
  8. I'm guessing you have it correct. FWIW, public officials VERY rarely make any comment at all in response to public comments (i.e., the board's silence tells us absolutely nothing). Those "pro-transit" Reddit commenters do not reflect well on the pro-transit community.
  9. 10. New D West Pier, posted by Bush Airport on their Facebook page.
  11. I've always loved this building. The salon is not the best use of the property, in my opinion. It could make a very lovely cafe.
  12. It was the opposite. What is now called Corebridge was formerly a division of AIG and was spun off into a separate stand-alone company (headquartered in Houston).

  14. The last of Bush Airport's original banjos are being demolished as I type.
  15. St Louis's Union Station has been through a couple of iterations of rebirth. Glad it is up and running. FWIW the hotel is not a Conrad, and never has been. When Union Station was first refurbished and reopened as a retail/entertainment complex, I believe it was an Omni Hotel. Later it became a Hyatt Regency, then a Marriott, and then Doubletree. It is now a Curio Collection hotel (by Hilton).
  16. Westheimer being TXDoT controlled ROW should not eliminate the possibility of rail or other high-capacity transit in the corridor, and I doubt there is any "prohibition" that needs to be amended. TXDoT also controls the freeway ROWs and Metro has worked with them and is working with them to build HOV lanes and BRT structures.
  17. Recent aerial images of new D-West pier posted by HAS on George Bush Intercontinental Airport's Facebook page.
  18. I agree, it can be slow loading, especially when using a mobile device. I too would like to see fewer posts per page.
  19. I think the FM designation on Westheimer is only the portion outside the Loop.
  20. Fun! It just happens that I walked by the pool Sunday afternoon and noticed people swimming laps. Just curious at what temperature they keep the pool water.
  21. Oh no!!!! The feeder will be shut down for SEVERAL WEEKS!! How will we get through this nightmare? (And does it actually have anything to do with the I-45 project? I thought nothing was starting on that until later this year.)
