  1. This house shows on Wiki. It looks familiar, but I can't place it excactly. Why did he only serve 2 years as govenor?
  2. Either day is fine with me. I think Warren's would be good again. Are you bringing snick-snacks?
  3. I was at Disco Kroger recently and saw one of those new smaller 'buggies' at the perimeter of the parking lot, over by SkyBar. It was still inside the parking lot, but was locked up. I had to go deeper into the safe zone in order to get one that rolled. Walgreen's, across the street also has the ones that lock. How does the locking mechanism work? Edit: I had a funny thought... What if the wireless or whatever device went haywire and everyone inside the store came to a screeching halt!
  4. Actually, I read recently that the Gulf Building is also for sale by Chase. Um, I'm pretty sure that this building is the parking garage for Chase Tower. The top six floors or so have offices, but there's no way it equals 1mil sq ft.

    Flu Shot

    Can you snatch me one?

    Flu Shot

Are you sure it was the H1N1 vaccine or just the regular flu shot? You may work in healthcare or are at risk, but otherwise I didn't think they were available to the general public yet, especially employers.
  7. Kudos for Midtown. It has come a long way in the last decade and is still developing. I don't think we should pit any of these areas against each other, when in fact that all butt up against one another. I just consider myself lucky to have so many damn good restaurants in a relatively compact area, regardless of which border I have to cross over into.
  8. I was being intentionally, pathetically shallow. And, I was joking. I do have a problem with the age thing and think he needs to be put out to pasture. Um, I'm laughing, so I guess I'm still joking. I can't wait to get out of here to go and vote.

    Flu Shot

Why would you get a shot if you already contracted it in April? Was it diagnosed back then as H1N1? Since you obviously survived it, I think your body is your best weapon, not the shot.
  10. His inability to articulate thoughts and the fact that he's 72 are two reasons he'll not get my vote. The other is that I don't like to look at him and his voice annoys me.
  11. ...or Houston, Tennessee. There's also a Philadelphia, MS, but you don't see them sticking Pennsylvania on the end, every time they say Philadelphia.
  12. I think they're emphasizing that the largest city in Texas could get a gay mayor. They're also talking up the fact that Atlanta may get its first white mayor in 35 years. However, I doubt they're adding on the Georgia part.
  13. The way I understand it is you can only be mayor for three consecutive terms. Therefore, it is conceivable he could run again in the next election.
  14. This sure has been a yawner of a mayoral campaign season. Who's going to win?? I guess I need to pull up a ballot somewhere because I have no idea who or what else to vote for on the other races.
  15. From Tootsie to Gweneth - Looks happy!
  16. "Shoot the queers" has to be my all time favorite. That's what Louis Welch said when asked: "What would you do about AIDS?" He did not know the cameras were still rolling. T-Shirts came out shortly thereafter that read "Louis, don't shoot!". The candidates are too boring for anything this entertaining to come out now. We can always hope, though. Still interested in what KW looks like now. I'm not going to shell out a minimum of $250 at Tony's tomorrow for Annise's fundraiser. Hopefully, (musicman) CH2 will cover it.
  17. Oh, and about Mary's, I'm not too sad to see it go. The window art always provided an interesting affect in the hood, but since they stopped, it just looked like a dump. If they were paying rent, why did not the owner fix the damn fence? On another note, aren't there people buried in the back or is it just pets? I can't remember. The last time I went was during the Westheimer Art Fest, when it was actually a festival on lower Westheimer. History: The Pink Elephant was the first gay bar in Texas. It was somewhere in Midtown to Downtown. Went there when I was 17 or 18 (once). Empire Cafe was a leather bar called the Different Drum. There was a Tree House in the back. Um. Across the street, at the antique market, was the Loading Dock. They had a rope swing from a barn loft that swung out over the dance floor. Carrabba's on Kirby was originally an adult bookstore. God I'm old, but still kickin' unlike so many of the day.
  18. It's kind of a leather circuit party and a continuation of Mardi Gras in NOLA. It is always the weekend after Mardi Gras. Bears in leather scare me - until they speak.
  19. OMG - Kathy Whitmire will be here Thursday and is holding a fundraiser at Tony's for Annise. I haven't seen that ole gal in years. Last I heard, she got married and lived in Hawaii. http://users.activatedirect.com/fs/distribution:wl/xqlqmk7sqblisb/ydcfbnpvy1hv0w/daid/.preview
  20. Imagine what we would have now if the initiative had been approved 25 years ago? At least I know, I voted yes way back then.
  21. New KHOU, KUHF Poll 24% Brown 16% Parker 14% Locke 05% Morales Annise says in her only TV ad public monies would not be used to build stadiums, etc. That may help after today's article. I need to look for the Sat. debate on khou.com. I only saw clips from the League of Womens Voter debate. (On CH2)
  22. I don't know, who's got bigger expense accounts, politicians or big oil execs.?
