1. Is Kim Son still 24hrs? Not Midtown, but not too far.
2. Yo, Flash! Very similar indeed. Except, the Lobster Taco is on a flour tortilla and the Maximiliano Shrimp is on a crispy corn tortilla. Um, I only had 1 rita.
3. Hey Tex. Next time I see you on the train or Kroger, I'm going to holler you down. You've not made the last several haif-happy-hours. DB = DOUCHEBAG! Ricco Suave, latin stereo-types, Jersey Shores, etc. Or, simply put, those that treat individuals differently based on appearance. (Did I spell Ricco's last name like the shampoo? Oh well.) The lovely lady that accompanied me was truly offended by this display. Maybe next time she'll serve up her sizeable rack on a platter and wear heals so that we get the service expected. However, I don't see that happening with the arrival of the heat and the condition of the sidewalks.
4. We tried it out yesterday evening. They're just doing soft openings now since it's not fully up and ready to go. The interior is not fully furnished yet, so the service was set up outside in that lovely space. The food and beverage selections are limited at this point. Our waiter, Randy (the only one) was very personable, but there seemed to be a disconnect between the kitchen, bar and waiter-to-table flow. Things like drinks going to the wrong table and such. Things I fully expected, being amounst the first to arrive at a new restaurant opening. We ordered the ceviche first and then two other items. All arrived at the same time We got the Ocean's Ceviche. On that day it was made with flounder, which I found odd, but it was very fresh. So fresh, that it was almost tasteless. Those used to the traditional presentation will be disappointed. It was served on a 18"-24" x 12" rectangular plate. You can get 4 filets out of a flounder, so I estimate that the serving of fish was about half (if) of one of the 4 filets. Most TEXANS I know would be pretty disappointed at the site of a minuscule portion of fish on a the giant plate. The Ocean's Taco was served flat on a flour tortilla topped with black beans and such and then grilled lobster tail across the middle. The empty tail shell is presented on the side. Toppings included bits of avocado and shaved parmesean. The taco was quite tastey. The Maxamilano Tostada was our fave. Grilled shrimps and various other toppings, but the bomb for this dish is the house homemade red sauce. Give me a bowl of that and some dipping chips and I would go-to-town. The second two items were to be served with pomme frittes with various dipping sauces. They never came. We left the table and did a quick tour of the inside of the building. When furnished, I'm sure it'll be as quaint as it always was, but perhaps a little brighter. Those gorgeous wood floors have remained the same. We moved to the front where the temporary bar was set up, trying to get our check and get out of there. It took far too long and my neighbor-companion pretty much had a meltdown and had to walk out. I finally got the check and they charged the full price for the dishes that were to be served with fries. A 10% discount was given. The "brothers" don't seem to have much American or especially Texas hospitality experience, unless you're a cleveage-weilding bombshell (as witnessed). We kind of got a DB red flag - not in this hood you don't! All items are in the $10 range. I enjoyed the margarita, but everyone has their own preference, so I'll not suggest or recommend. I had one and then swithced to wine. With the items mentioned above, 1 margarita and 3 wines, the total was $60. Upon leaving, Jorge says "Please come back to see us". All I said is that it'd be a while, and we walked our merryasses home. I wish them well, but we'll just have to wait and see. (Oh, I toured the interior construction of the old Long Horn space behind the Lancaster yesterday, that is to be BB's. I'll try to update that site later.)
5. IMO, TXDOT needs an upheaval moreso than HOU-METRO. Annise, get Bill up in thar and gitter done. It's like none of the road planners have reviewed past safety hazards. Shameful! Sad to lose a valuable heathcare worker and future shining star.
6. It looks like they've installed a (say) quadruple-wide trailer on the site. There also appears to be some more grating action going on. I need to bring in the banocs.
7. <br Yes and look what improvements the Buffalo Market sparked at Kroger across the street. Hopefully the same will be done with Weingartens/Safeway/Apple Tree/Fiesta. A touchup is long overdue for that strip. It's at least encouraging to see that HEB seems to be seriously interested in what the hood-dwellers (like me) think.
8. Actually, it's a low-rider art car. Point taken. Guess I should've realized that when such questions were posed to a CO Exec friend of mine. All I got was hands in the air and "I dunno". ...still hungry for updates and trust this will be the site to find the latest.
9. Now that I've had a full dose of Sunday morning laughter and eye-rolling, can we get back to the projected increase of UA/CO hub traffic through IAH? Without using crap data, of course. What is the projected traffic volume increase to be for IAH after the merger - regardless how/where people get on or off da-plane? Also, how will this (assumed) increase affect Houston financially?
10. Happy Mother's Day, moms.

11. If I remember correctly, it was originally planned to Conroe, but Montgomery Co. would not pitch in. I think had they, the route would have been more profitable. Now, we have the possibility of more, endless construction.
12. Does anyone know the schedules of this season's crawfish boils? Yeah, yeah, there's Floyd's aka Mardi Gras, but they're just a menu item. Anybody know of any full-blown boils? Looks like W. Alabama Ice House had one yesterday. Ooops, missed it. I've just had a really hard time trying to look up any current information. Most online info is way outdated. Thanks.
13. I've never seen any, but some worthwhile searches would be Republic Bank Plaza, Johnson Burgee and Hines.
14. I always go to the Big Fiesta near Reliant or J&J Mkt at Stella and the Loop. Certainly not the Heights, though. Great to hear that Airline on Richmond is within a mile of me! I've never heard of it, but will be checking that out really soon.
15. We were all out back and had no bikes or buckets. Seriously, were you there?
16. The Red Line is to close this weekend due to TMC bridge construction. Why do they have to close the whole damn thing? Can't they bridge stations with buses, like when it floods? I was going to ride it to two destinations this weekend. http://blogs.chron.c...rail_shutd.html
17. A 4-plex should handle the housing problem for "poor gay folks", stylish or otherwise.
18.

From what I can remember, the stretch of 59, from Montrose to 288 is supposed to be sunken at some point. I'd be curious to see if that would eliminate the northbound bottleneck.
19. It's official. Niko Niko's has announced that they are opening a sidewalk kiosk restaurant in Market Square. See chron.com. They should be open in late summer.
20. When did we start calling them feeders? And Red, there are feeders on 59 between Shepherd and the Loop.
21. Darn it. They removed the crane over the weekend. We wanted to see how they did it. Guess I'll check the web cam for any coverage.
22. I just noticed yesterday that they've put up the first glass. Look at the floor up one from the sky walk on the south side (web cam shot). It's really cool, it's like the glass has decals in/on it. I don't have time to look and compare to the rendering, but what appears to be wall might actually be glass. Gotta hit the HAIF happy hour now...
23. You're covered from that possibility. How does third or fourth eldest sit with you. See you in a bit.
24. Yep, it was called TV5 and they broadcast from Allied Bank Plaza. It was before 1985, though. I can remember the console TV I watched it on, with TUBES!
