Interesting. Isn't this the same group that just bought the strip center at Westheimer and Montrose? (PM Realty Group)

Four Leaf Towers Condominiums At 5100 San Felipe St.
rsb320 replied to lockmat's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Does anybody else remember the fire in one of the towers, way back? From Wiki: At 4:15 AM on October 13, 2001,[5] a fire occurred in a fifth floor unit in the west tower.[6] Houston Fire Department firefighter Captain Jay Jahnke died while fighting the fire. Over 175 firefighters extinguished the fire.[5]- 24 replies

There's still a house on Grant, behind the cat houses. Apparently, it's going to become a cantina. http://houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/06-22-12-new-neighbors-for-uchi-a-coverted-house-cantina-is-coming-to-lower-westheimer/

Still better than that dilapidated Spook House that was there before. It was about to fall down.

It looked like they had the sidewalk blocked off with yellow tape yesterday. I was going to look again this morning, but the train was so dang packed I couldn't see out. -

I saw a couple of these Green Link buses yesterday. -
It's a parking lot - striped and all. The lighting (poles) have not been installed yet.

They're all the way down to McGoway now. I'm guessing that the finish line is Tuam.

I'm in. It has been far too long. -
One of the cat house has been demolished and they hauled it off today. It's the one to the right. Maybe they'll do the other one next. I'm still thinking that they'll extend parking all the way through to Grant.

Mystery Yellow Structure Erected by Jails
rsb320 replied to rsb320's topic in General Houston Discussions
That sucker is gone this morning (whatever it was). -
A strange yellow structure was erected near the jails today. It's roughly where the Peden Iron Works building was. It's really tall and looks too frail to be a crane, but similar to a crane. It's way taller than all of the structures in the area, so I can't imagine what it is. Any clues?

They were painting orange marks on this block this morning. This evening, it's got posts up and they are putting up fencing.

Yes, that picture is of "The Mix". Will they be able to sell beer across the street from that Catholic Charities place. I can't remember the church/school proximity rules to booze servers/sellers.

We're putting the final touches on our world-class paleontology hall - the length of a football field, it's one of the most dynamic paleo halls in the world. It's a whole new HMNS: 30,000 square feet of pure paleontological wonder will be baring its fangs on June 2.

East End Restaurant And Bar Scene - More Coming
rsb320 replied to sir_foulto's topic in EaDo, the East End, and East Houston
This is the original (Ninfa) Laurenzo family. I think they still own the original Ninfa's on Navigation. Their other 3 El Tiempo's are on Richmond, Washington and Montrose. The food is good, but they tend to be a little pricey. -
Encouraging Houston Tourism - What would you do?

Why three times? I found the Mona Lisa very underwhelming the one and only time I saw her. Now, the statue of David - that's what I'm talkin bout. -
I had remembered reading something about indian arrow heads being found at McFaddin Beach on Bolivar. This suggests they were Paleoindian artifacts. http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/mcfaddin/index.html

The Cabo comments should probably be moved to the Cabo topic. Anyway, I just walked by (Cabo). Some dudes were walking out the back door. I asked "Who's moving in." One just giggled and said "Nobody". I did not believe him. Biba's is a Greek - American diner. They were always really popular for breakfast and other American fare. So, I'm assuming they'll have b-fast, burgers, pizza, Greek salad and baklava. They also used to have a pizza place on Memorial. It was across the street from the Biba's One's a Meal that was in the building that was formerly an A-Frame I-Hop. This new location downtown should be really popular with the courthouse set.
