  1. We're putting the final touches on our world-class paleontology hall - the length of a football field, it's one of the most dynamic paleo halls in the world. It's a whole new HMNS: 30,000 square feet of pure paleontological wonder will be baring its fangs on June 2.
  2. This is the original (Ninfa) Laurenzo family. I think they still own the original Ninfa's on Navigation. Their other 3 El Tiempo's are on Richmond, Washington and Montrose. The food is good, but they tend to be a little pricey.
  3. Georgia has died. http://houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/05-24-12-healthy-eating-pioneer-farm-fresh-restaurant-owner-georgia-bost-dies-at-age-62/
  4. The Cabo comments should probably be moved to the Cabo topic. Anyway, I just walked by (Cabo). Some dudes were walking out the back door. I asked "Who's moving in." One just giggled and said "Nobody". I did not believe him. Biba's is a Greek - American diner. They were always really popular for breakfast and other American fare. So, I'm assuming they'll have b-fast, burgers, pizza, Greek salad and baklava. They also used to have a pizza place on Memorial. It was across the street from the Biba's One's a Meal that was in the building that was formerly an A-Frame I-Hop. This new location downtown should be really popular with the courthouse set.
  5. I just noticed yesterday that they've papered over the windows.
  6. There's a big red crane on the south side of the building, as of yesterday morning.
  7. I saw a Hyundai commercial for the Azera last night. It's filmed around the "Enron" - Chevron circular skybridge. Nice car!
  8. Here's the one on Richmond. http://www.houstonar...ng/page__st__60 This thread needs to be renamed 22-Story Whiteco.
  9. There was an article somewhere talking about the bee infestation. They referred to it as the 22-story Whiteco.
  10. Yes, just like the Dome and Toyota Ctr. I remembered having questions about drainage.
  11. How deep below surface is it sunken? I would think that would also restrict air flow.
  12. Same with BP. Well, I think Houston is HQ to North American Operations.
  13. They started affixing a grid structure yesterday. I'm not sure what the fascade will consist of.
  14. I remember seeing signage at one time, calling Hobby "Houston International Airport". I'm sure that's been covered over now. Any idea when HOU took on the Hobby name?
  15. I guess they'll demo the abandoned Sterling Building when block 69 is developed.
  16. I miss El Rey. Does anyone know why they closed? They were always busy at lunch. Biba's - yawn. The only one I ever liked was in the old IHOP building on Memorial.
  17. It's old - built in 1932. I'm unsure of its historic significance, though.
  18. It's not permanent. See below from TCH site. A circular two-story sky bridge connects Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women to the hospital’s other patient care buildings. On Monday evening the signature bridge glowed bright blue from temporary lights illuminated to celebrate in the arrival of the first baby. Through Fri., March 30th, the lights will glow in a combination of pink and blue, in honor of all the babies born during Texas Children’s first week of labor and delivery services.
  19. I heard this morning that the skybridge will glow either blue or pink, depending on the sex of the first baby born that day.
  20. Papa John's is still there. This really is a large piece of land considering parking lots both in the front and back, nix the Jack in the Box. I hope someone has a vision for this property as well as the old Skybar/Cody's building. Oh, the possibilities.
  21. Houston's is owned by the Hillstone Restaurant Group. I'm not sure why they are changing the name, though.
  22. There were quite a few tables occupied for lunch yesterday.
  23. I think it's the 1st Thursday of each month that the streets and businesses come alive in that area, with live music, etc.
