  1. They put up their sign yesterday and the shelves are nearly stocked. It looks really cool inside and the items they carry will be interesting to check out.
  2. I tried Frank's site to see if they had any building history like the Treebeards site has about their building - Nope. I was there a couple of months ago. We went straight upstairs to the balcony and ordered drinks, no food. Nice view. I wonder if Berryhill would be interested in moving in. They have better fish tacos anyway.
  3. Not sure why I don't have a reply option to post #2. 20thStDad, BB's is already two blocks away. Cabo had a water line break in the sidewalk last week, so I assumed they were closed because they had no water - guess not. On a positive note, Georgia's, on the other corner of that block is stocking their shelves. It looks like they'll open soon.
  4. The overpass has come to ground on the southeast end. Do we know why this portion on North Main is elevated anyway? Rather than start a new topic, what was going on with the Red Line this morning and why is it not being reported? One announcement said that there was a car (automobile) in the fountain at Main St Square and service would terminate there. We changed tracks at Greyhound and were instructed to board another train on the other platform at DT Transit Center. Then, the announcement on that platform was the polar opposite of what we'd been told whilst on the train. At any rate, I'll stop because I'm a tad bit worked up. Question: Is Jerome Gray behind such stories not getting out?
  5. It looks like construction is wrapping up on the new place (Georgia's?). They've cut a hole in the back area floor and installed a stairway. It's hard to say what the subsurface area will be used for.
  6. Now it's called "Fresh Fare" or something goofy like that. They slapped the "Signature" on there after the last remodel in the late 80's or 90's. Back then, stores weren't as giant as they are today.
  7. Just like you did last time, so we can follow the progress.
  8. It'll sort of be like that house in Riverway, nestled right in between office buildings and the Omni Hotel.
  9. I figured it was something like that, but didn't know what to call them. The entire eastern wall is done now and they are now working on the south side.
  10. I just noticed those dots on the building this morning, from the train. What are they? I'll get a better look on my way home this evening.
  11. My first apartment was in a 4-plex named "Elberta". She still stands on Garrott, between Colquitt and W. Main.
  12. It's interesting that the prior post office building is now Neartown Animal Clinic, on Woodhead, behind Kroger. If sold, I wonder what the newer post office building would become.
  13. Some of the steel girders are up on the elevated portion of the rail on Main (next to where the intermodel was to go).
  14. With all this talk about earthquake damage to the Washington Monument, they keep saying that the WM is the tallest stone structure in the world at 555 feet. Well the San Jacinto Monument is 570 feet. Is it not stone or is it only clad in stone?
  15. It is exactly Montrose. Midtown is bordered by the Pierce Elevated on the north, 59 on the south, 59/288 on the east and Bagby on the west.
  16. This topic did not move to New Posts yesterday because of server problems. Let's try this again. I'd like to see the implosion of the Pru if anybody hears any scheduling information.
  17. Why aren't new posts updating?

  18. Swamplot is reporting that they will now implode the building before the end of the year. They stated that manually demolishing the building would be too loud and would result in poor air quality for too long, thus disturbing patients and employees of TMC.
  19. Yep, that is what is now, Chase Tower.
  20. Anybody been to Don Julio's, where La Strada and Cafe Bello used to be?
  21. A friend of mine just showed up for work there and they were shuttered. Said something about a landlord dispute or something. I'd only been once, but had a favorable impression.
