  1. Papa John's is still there. This really is a large piece of land considering parking lots both in the front and back, nix the Jack in the Box. I hope someone has a vision for this property as well as the old Skybar/Cody's building. Oh, the possibilities.
  2. Houston's is owned by the Hillstone Restaurant Group. I'm not sure why they are changing the name, though.
  3. There were quite a few tables occupied for lunch yesterday.

    Drainage tax

I saw that yesterday. These funds were to be dedicated to drainage projects, or at least that's what I thought I was voting for. Um, now that I think about it, I got flyers in the mail that very directly stated that these funds could not be diverted. This really pisses me off, if true.
  5. I think it's the 1st Thursday of each month that the streets and businesses come alive in that area, with live music, etc.
  6. Trinity Episcopal Church of Houston began as a "cottage mission," or "branch Sunday school," of Christ ... building. It was a small wooden chapel, located in the Fairgrounds Addition, on Louisiana Street, between Tuam and Drew streets. Later ...
  7. That would be an interesting topic. Hopefully, somebody can find some history of this (Fairgrounds).
  8. From Metro: CENTRAL STATION - MAIN DESIGN COMPETITION Thank you for your interest in the Central Station Main Design Competition. The public comment period has ended. Please refer back to this site in early March when METRO will release the information on the winning design.
  9. Can you give any clues as to what you would like to redevelop this into?
  10. I just saw a trolley shuttle. It was like the ones from the 80s-90s, not a green link.
  11. Today, the light rail was free because it's black heritage day. How are riders counted that don't pay?
  12. Rodeo will also boost ridership. It's really quite funny to me to see the train at night, chock full of Cowboys & Cowgirls. It looks like they've been corralled in there. I might just hop on there one evening, just for kicks.
  13. HPD arrested the owner of Boondocks on Westheimer due to noise. I think I read that in the Press. Lemecheck - http://blogs.houstonpress.com/rocks/2012/02/boondocks_owner_arrested_noise.php
  14. Looks like they've got some extensive construction ahead of them.
  15. "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed." Yeah, let's just sell it, since it has no meaning to this city.
  16. It's probably sewer gas. Haven't they started construction on Bagby? They've probably disturbed some lines while they're replacing them.

    lurker!

Glad to see that you're alive. Welcome back.
  18. He says in the Chronicle today that it's a smear campaign by Ch2 to increase their ratings. Whateva!
  19. The Shell Oil facility on Bellaire at Braes used to have a siren. City Hall had one that sounded every Friday at noon.
  20. From Culturemap: Update: According to Nancy Sarnoff, the state comptroller has also approved sales tax permits for a Trader Joe's at the Alabama Theatre. Inner loopers rejoice! In addition, its says that the Alabama location has not been confirmed.
  21. Within the last couple of days there have been two stories: "Metro Bus Crashes Into Car" and "Woman Raped at Metro Bus Stop".
  22. That was my first thought too. I'll be heading over that way this weekend and will check it out further.
  23. CH2 is now reporting that they have him on video inside the bar. They use the term "well-known gay bar". Yeah, well-known to stay the hell away from.
  24. Anybody been by here lately? Last time I was, there was a pretty substantial project going on. I appeared that this project will have below grade parking, but I'm not sure.
