  1. Has anyone ever seen the ridership numbers for Park-n-Ride? Also, I ride the train everyday and have never felt unsafe. I rarely have reason to ride it at night.
  2. Wow, then they'll have quick access to 3 stations, well 4, if you count the new Main station as 2 (1 station, 2 directions).
  3. I'm gay and you couldn't get me to go in that bar. I'm no snob, but their clientele is questionable. You can tell that by the people sitting/drinking in the outdoor seating area, which you can see from the street.
  4. This is really close to where the new train station will be.
  5. A mini van with Jersey plates was making the block (Cabo's/Georgia's) this morning. The sliding door was open and they were filming from it. This could finally be my big break.
  6. We've got better shots on here than the Chron.
  7. I'd rather see them refurb it. It takes up most of that block. Also, it'd look a whole lot better if they would take down those nasty drapes.
  8. Stucco on cinder block is hardly noteworthy.
  9. 20 floors less than Chase, but 10m taller. Looks like the cap and spire were added to get the title of tallest outside NYC and Chicago. First Interstate (US Bank Tower) in LA did the same thing with its crown in '89. We need a new super-tall, it's been 30 years. Come on Jerry Hines, let's reach for the skies.
  10. Snow Moon. I, too, thought this game had already been previously announced. When I saw it on the news last night, I was like, I already know that.
  11. A good day trip would be to take the ferry over to Bolivar, view the Ike devastation and eat at Stingaree
  12. The one Navigation is still family owned, just like Carraba's on Kirby and Woodway. Two other oldies are Monument Inn and Brady's Landing. The new Pleasure Pier will be a great attraction, when it opens.
  13. Jokingly, three things to do when you come to Houston are New Orleans, San Antonio and Austin. How about the beer can house, the art car parade and drive through River Oaks and Memorial. Michaelangelo's is a restaurant that comes to mind that's been around forever and Ninfa's on Navigation.
  14. I was at the dedication ceremony and I remember the trees being holly. Oh well, that's beside the point (doesn't really matter). Nick - Hermann Park and the Museum District would be a good choice. Also, a visit to the Galleria & Water Wall is a good one. However, I'd get a Houston Press or other publication to find out what was going on during the timeframe that I had guests visiting.
  15. To me, "resurface" is not the right term since it will be completely reconstructed. They could put down a layer of blacktop in 2 days. Whatever they do, hurry up. That road is tearing up my car.
  16. Ever heard of Tranquility Park or seen the 7 Holly trees planted nearby in honor of the lives lost in the Challenger disaster?
  17. I wonder if the canvass canopy is for that restaurant. It appears to be of the Prince's Drive-In vintage.
  18. Most of the space is common area, seating and food prep, so they've really organized the small grocery area well. I think the downstairs "cellar" is really cool.
  19. That's right. Height was added to the cafeteria floor, overlooking Disco Green, and it's near the bottom. That cafeteria is fancy enough to have a reception or banquet.
  20. Discovery Tower did. It was almost finished by the time Hess signed up.
  21. Two lines will; the east and southeast lines will cross the Red Line very nearby.
  22. The strip centers were there long before the high rises. Four Leaf towers and all those buildings, plus Transco were built in the 80. I think Post Oak Central was the 70's.
