  1. I tried to cut through there the other day to see what was going on. I ended up having to cut through S. Main Baptist parking lot to get over to the feeder because Truxillo, Travis and Isabella were all blocked off. I couldn't tell what they're doing. They've also torn down a multi-story building at (say) Fannin and Holman. Both locations are easy walking distance from HCC.
  2. Dominique (Ch2) was on "The Event" last night.
  3. I vote for the super block in Midtown or where the old YMCA now sits.
  4. They are constructing something near the kiosk. I've heard it will either be storage or restrooms with beer taps on the outside. On another note, across the street, two new restaurants have opened. They are on either side of Les Givrals and are owned by them. The one on the left is Convey Sushi and the one on the right is ERA, which has salads, soups, sandwiches and personal pizzas, etc. ERA stands for Entertainment Restaurant Air.
  5. What is going on with Congress St. just north of the Ballet Bldg? They've ripped out the bridge.
  6. Half of it is. They began demolition recently and it will be totally gone very soon. I think I read something about Harris County using the land for a 270 spot parking lot. Great - more surface parking.
  7. They are filming something right now on Louisiana around the Alley & Birraporetti's. They would not let me use the sidewalk on the BB's side. I couldn't tell much from what I saw.
  8. I just started parking in that lot on 01/01/11and taking the train, because Market Square Garage jacked up their rates by 60% monthly. It's $20/mo and you can get your tag at Sig's, which has moved around the corner on Winbern. The debit transaction said "Ensemble HCC Partners".
  9. The Container Store at Post Oak and Westheimer was a Weingartens.
  10. That Chevy commercial was on the east side. His picture is north of White Oak Bayou.
  11. Is Enron/Chevron lighted anymore? I liked the orignal oval lighting scheme.
  12. Okay, so it's on the border of Midtown/Montrose, on Tuam across the street from Late-Nite Pie. The building is an old printing company or something.
  13. I thought so too (dark). I also think that we need to bring some bling back. It's Christmas damnit.
  14. I got wind of a new club coming to Midtown. I'm not sure where or when, but was told that it will be a cross between Meteor and South Beach. That means dancing, a stage for shows and lounges. It is not a project by the owner of the previously mentioned venues. Can anyone think of an existing building that could be renovated to accomodate such a venue. Sorry for the vagueness, but that's all I have for now.
  15. I've exhausted my patience trying to find a current map of the downtown tunnel system. The most recent I can find is from 2005, where my building is not even connected. I guess I'll just walk down there and study the display. Shouldn't this be something that should be readily available or am I just a retard?
  16. The owner has a horse and the land, so why not? She would not come all the way over to the fence to see us, but as soon as some people came out to the side patio of the restaurant, she trotted over to them.
  17. There's a horse over to the right in that fenced area - over by that tractor. Her name is Lacy. Real sweet.
  18. Well, I'll be. It is painted tan now. When they first painted over the black, it was gray. I'm not sure when they slapped the tan on there.
  19. I wish that the Midtown Mgmt Dist could do with the superblock, in Midtown, that the Downtown Mgmt Dist did with Market Square. It's such a huge improvement.
  20. I remember reading that the Ballet sold back half the block to the developer (cut-backs or something). I'm curious what they'll finish those Georgia-Pacific board walls with. Maybe murals of giant ballet dancers or something.
  21. Tan is up to debate. I was just curious when they painted it the non-black color. I preferred the 'darker hues'.
