  1. That's my station too. I wonder how much longer the surface parking there will be available? I could walk, but I'm too lazy. Antique Store into a Boutique Hotel - I can't even imagine that.
  2. I think it would help to know the forcast for the area where you're going to be.
  3. There's a big red crane on the south side of the building, as of yesterday morning.
  4. They are removing the neon letters ALABAMA and are taking them to be restored off site. They are supposed to be re-installed. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2012/05/historic-alabama-sign-to-stay/#5322-1 http://swamplot.com/taking-down-the-letters-on-the-alabama-theater-sign/2012-05-22/
  5. I saw a Hyundai commercial for the Azera last night. It's filmed around the "Enron" - Chevron circular skybridge. Nice car!
  6. Here's the one on Richmond. http://www.houstonar...ng/page__st__60 This thread needs to be renamed 22-Story Whiteco.
  7. Probably already mentioned, since this thread is so old. The two I remember are the one by the Midtown Sears/Wheeler station and where the Valero is at Westheimer and Montrose.
  8. Turner has worked on prominent Houston landmarks like the Bank of America Building, Chase Tower, and Wells Fargo Plaza. Also, this firm works with both public and private sector clients including the University of Houston, British Petroleum, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Harris County, and the City of Houston. Turner Construction recently finished the two premiere projects – Hilton Americas Houston Hotel & Convention Center and the 717 Texas building. The company is recognized for its innovative design/build approaches that embrace emerging technologies.
  9. There was an article somewhere talking about the bee infestation. They referred to it as the 22-story Whiteco.
  10. Remember Mr. Leonards? "That sure is a pretty dress, but it's a booger to iron."
  11. Yes, just like the Dome and Toyota Ctr. I remembered having questions about drainage.
  12. How deep below surface is it sunken? I would think that would also restrict air flow.
  13. Same with BP. Well, I think Houston is HQ to North American Operations.
  14. They started affixing a grid structure yesterday. I'm not sure what the fascade will consist of.
  15. That's the Waldo Mansion. It was moved from downtown to Westmoreland & Garrott in the early 1900's. Some scenes from "Terms of Endearment" were filmed there in the '80's.
  16. I remember seeing signage at one time, calling Hobby "Houston International Airport". I'm sure that's been covered over now. Any idea when HOU took on the Hobby name?
  17. I think it could happen. After all, Public Works is in the old HL&P building.
  18. I guess they'll demo the abandoned Sterling Building when block 69 is developed.
  19. I miss El Rey. Does anyone know why they closed? They were always busy at lunch. Biba's - yawn. The only one I ever liked was in the old IHOP building on Memorial.
  20. It's old - built in 1932. I'm unsure of its historic significance, though.
  21. It's not permanent. See below from TCH site. A circular two-story sky bridge connects Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women to the hospital’s other patient care buildings. On Monday evening the signature bridge glowed bright blue from temporary lights illuminated to celebrate in the arrival of the first baby. Through Fri., March 30th, the lights will glow in a combination of pink and blue, in honor of all the babies born during Texas Children’s first week of labor and delivery services.
  22. I heard this morning that the skybridge will glow either blue or pink, depending on the sex of the first baby born that day.
